Cabin size verses deck plans on QM2

Why do the cabins on the deck plans look so much different than what the brochure states? The inside cabins are suppose to be 194 sq. ft., the same size as an outside cabin. However, they look smaller on the deck plans and in pictures. The outside looks larger than the hull balcony cabin area on the deck plan and in pictures also. If the hull balcony is 269 sq. ft. as the brochure states, then there's one heck of a large balcony in the hull. If the outside is 194 sq. ft. and is larger than the hull balcony cabin area (read comments to this effect also), then the balcony has to be in excess of about a 9X9 area. Trivial but love to study things like this. Opinions or educated views?

Don't know about the hull balconies, but the superstructure balconies were far bigger than we have found on other ships. Enough room for two full size sun loungers.

The interior of all the cabins (D-B) are all 194 sq. feet. It is the balcony that make the cabins larger. The Hull balconies are larger then the traditional "clear" balconies that are not cut out from the hull. When you get into Princess (Jr. Suites) and Queens (Suites) the actual interior square footage of the cabin is much larger then in the D-B cabins.

The balconies are also larger.

Agree with crusir. The regular QG suites - whille their balcony is longer, is not as deep as the hull balcony as I recall.

We've just come back off the royal mediterranean cruise where we had a "hull balcony" cabin (Deck 5). We became friends with people with "Glass balcony" cabins on both decks 8 and 12. There was absolutely no difference in the cabins except the balconies (The hull balconies being slightly - but noticeably larger ... the sunloungers 'fit' with a bit of room to spare on the larger hull balconies but only just fit on the glass balconies).

Things to consider: The hull balconies are on lower decks and are therefore cheaper. With a hull balcony you may need to stand up to see the sea/port. but the balcony is a LOT more sheltered than the higher balconies and we preferred this (also, its much more private - our friends on Deck 8 were on full view to those on the promenade deck below - not to mention the bridge and the cctv cameras!). Unless you're a serious sun worshipper (and you know which way the ship is sailing!), we would not consider the higher grade cabins on decks 8-12 worth the premium you have to pay, and would definiely choose a hull balcony cabin on deck 4 or 5 again.
