KC_fn Posted August 11, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2007 I haven't, but I LOVE scavenger hunts! Are you thinking of things the "hunters" can get from other cruisers, or staff, or? I'll try to think of some items if you'll give me a general idea what you're looking for. Oh boy this sounds like fun!

I'll try to think of some items if you'll give me a general idea what you're looking for. Oh boy this sounds like fun! Mainly.. I am trying to find things around the ship that they can get more acquainted with the ship. Like.. chip from the casino.. etc. Im also trying to make some of them in riddles.. Which I am truely not good with, so we will see.. LOL :D Thanks! ;)
KC_fn Posted August 11, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2007 OK. I have now made this my personal project! :D If you don't mind staying tuned, I'll just post ideas as they come to me. I tend to do my best thinking while driving or in the shower. Probably something I'd think of will remind you of something else, and vice versa. I'm trying to think of little things you could pick up in various areas of the ship, so here are a few to get us started: Paper clip (Guest Relations Desk) Band-aid (Infirmary -- although they might charge for it :( ) Coffee cup lid (Cafe or Buffet) Drink umbrella (Any bar, of course -- maybe you can specify a color) I'll check back later. I wish I'd thought of this when I was travelling with a big group a few weeks ago! PS -- How do you feel about scavenging items from other cruisers (not in your group)? This would open up alot of possibilities, and would get them into the swing of meeting their fellow passengers.

Funseekers Posted August 11, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted August 11, 2007 Hey KC fun... Are are fun the Kansas City area?
KC_fn Posted August 11, 2007 #7 Share Posted August 11, 2007 No, I'm in California. My name means "Kenny Chesney Fan." I'm glad you said Yes to other passengers. Just remind your group to be super-polite and to find people who look fun-loving. From other passengers, they might get: *A piece of gum (hopefully unchewed  ) *Something that has the name of the other passenger's home state (gotta make it a little tough, after all!) *Something red (I always like these items that are a little non-specific; usually something hilarious turns up) From the ship: *A toothpick *A pen with the cruisline or ship logo (they can't use the one they found in their cabin) I'll be back! KC_fn Posted August 11, 2007 #8 Share Posted August 11, 2007 *A styrofoam plate or bowl (Cafe) You can see you've got my wheels turning now. :D

KC_fn Posted August 11, 2007 #10 Share Posted August 11, 2007 Banana- I'm bananas for crusisingCarnival pen-to keep you in line Does any of this work? I love doing scavenger hunts!!! Join the fun! :D Here's a couple more: *A cone from the self-serve ice cream station *A packet of sugar or sugar-substitute Also, I'm working on an idea for a crew autograph. A couple of possibilities: *Brochure or business card from the spa, autographed by an employee NOT from the US. *Autograph from a crew member who speaks (choose a language). They must also write a short phrase in their native language. I'm wracking my brain for something they could get from the pool area, but everything there seems to be nailed down. We'll come up with something though!
dame2005 Posted August 11, 2007 #11 Share Posted August 11, 2007 with such a large group you can also make the people part of the scavenger hunt. For example: find someone from miami, or even another country. What is uncle bills kids name and how old are they? find a group member born in another country find a group member who speaks two languages? hope that helps! mountaingurl Posted August 12, 2007 #12 Share Posted August 12, 2007 Dental floss-the gift that keeps on giving Spoon-to scoop up all the fun available This is fun! I would say they could bring back something of a chair hogs, but that would just be too mean:p
KC_fn Posted August 12, 2007 #13 Share Posted August 12, 2007 I would say they could bring back something of a chair hogs, but that would just be too mean:p LOL! Does anyone know if the spa/salon has little sample-size products? Would they have enough for 70 scavengers? Another idea: *Something written in a language other than English (printed material, not someone writing something down for the scavenger) Funseeker: Have you decided on the day & time of the scavenger hunt? I just wondered if scavenging the dining room is a possibility, but that would probably only work at a time it's open for breakfast or lunch. KC_fn Posted August 13, 2007 #14 Share Posted August 13, 2007 with such a large group you can also make the people part of the scavenger hunt. For example: find someone from miami, or even another country. What is uncle bills kids name and how old are they? find a group member born in another country find a group member who speaks two languages? hope that helps! Perhaps... it depends on the "purpose" of the hunt. This would definitely be the way to go if Funseeker's goal is for the group to get to know each other better. On the other hand, if they already know each other well, maybe it would be more fun to make group members "off limits." That way they'll have to explore the ship more and meet a few new friends. (And they won't huddle and "trade" items; scavenger hunters can be pretty sneaky :p ) One more idea: *A book of matches
KC_fn Posted August 13, 2007 #15 Share Posted August 13, 2007 Funseekers, I'm leaving town for the week, but I'll check back in next weekend, hopefully with some new ideas. Didn't want you to think I'd abandoned you.
susiemoss82 Posted August 15, 2007 #16 Share Posted August 15, 2007 If folks have digital cameras you could also use pictures as well as part of the hunt! It could also help folks get to know the layout of the ship, such as a picture of their group dancing in the disco or getting a picture of the most expensive item in the shops on the ship. I sort of think this is something I'd like to do!!! other ideas: a pic of everyone on their team in the cabin bathroom (should be a tight fit!) pic of highest point on the ship/lowest point on the ship pic with the longest serving crew member
RogerandChris Posted August 16, 2007 #17 Share Posted August 16, 2007 It might have a interesting story behind it.:D
Funseekers Posted August 16, 2007 Author #18 Share Posted August 16, 2007 Thanks for all the great ideas! ;) I have made a list of about 50 items..( not they they have to find all 50 or that I will even be listing all of them..LOL  ) that I think are pretty good. (THANK YOU ALL!!) Im now trying to find some riddles for a few of the items, that they have to try and figure out. These are a couple I thought might work.. --If your ears are dirty, you might miss your cue.. with this little tip you should know what to do? --While searching for my forgotten treasure, I skinned my knee. I needed a band not one that would play for me, but one that would aid me in my time of need? Anyone got any good riddles?? Thanks! ~Lorinda ;)
KC_fn Posted August 18, 2007 #19 Share Posted August 18, 2007 Wow Lorinda, you ARE ambitious! I'm terrible at the riddle part; the only thing I could think of is: Find your perfect match (for a book of matches) I'll keep thinking though!

Taters Posted October 26, 2007 #21 Share Posted October 26, 2007 I like the camera idea... Once when I was on a Carnival ship I ended up being a vital part of the 9-12 year olds' scavenger hunt... There was a 10ish year old girl looking frantically for an adult who could flip their tongue over, which just happens to be one of my special talents. She asked if I would come with her, I said sure, she grabbed my hand and we RAN to a supervised checkpoint and I displayed my talent to the judge and y'all NEVER saw a happier 10 year old! It ended up being fun for me, too! Something like this would work perfectly well with digital pics. Taters

chlost Posted July 16, 2009 #24 Share Posted July 16, 2009 If most of the people on the trip will have digital cameras along (I'm guessing yes), then you could do a "scavenger hunt" where people have to get pictures of things instead of the items themselves. You could make it fun by having them get other cruisers to agree to strange poses (your best James Bond or Marilyn Monroe pose) or making strange faces or showcasing their best talent (maybe touching the tip of their tongue to their nose) or it could be as simple as photographing the people they find (such as the person wearing the red bikini, the person who speaks 2 languages, etc.).
