I need a hotel for Auckland pre cruise

Any suggestions? I want to be able to walk to city sites and maybe an option to the cruise terminal . Would love your thoughts :)

Look at Mercure- since you are a TA (other thread) check Accor's STAR rates.

A few years back we stayed at Mecure Auckland Hotel on Customs Street. The hotel/location was wonderful. We had a travel industry rate & we were given a room upgrade to harbour view. We were able to watch our cruise ship arrive in port at 6 AM from the comfort of our room!

We are booked at the Auckland Hilton this March 2012 after our Oceania crusie. It is right on the pier where your cruise ship docks.

I like the Sebel...right on waterfront where the America Cup Yachts were based lots of restaurants and bars easy reach to city and harbour. Nice rooms with washer/dryer. I hated the Stamford:mad:

Maybe try Copthorne Hotel Auckland Harbour City, this hotel is directly in front of the cruise terminal. I have never stayed there so not sure about the hotel itself.

If you put into google search Copthorne Hotel Auckland Harbour City you can zoom in and get the STREET VIEW which will show a cruise ship that is actually in port at the time. (I love using this feature to familiarise myself with the immediate area when I'm travelling)

You can also see the Hilton Hotel actually on the wharf.

The Hotel is at 196-200 Quay Street Auckland

Shopping tip: Diagonally across from Cruise Terminal is the Downtown Shopping Mall, this has some great little shops and a great little Knick nack type shop that sells NZ souveniers way cheaper than some of the others so check that one out.
