High speed ferry from Split to Hvar

Can anyone give me information about the high speed ferry from Split to Hvar? I need to know: where the ferry leaves from, can we walk there from dock, how long does it take to get from Split to Hvar, where can I find a schedule for this ferry?

What I really need to know is is this doable for an excursion from my cruise ship which will be docked in Split in late September from 8am until 6pm?

If anyone can help me with this info I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

You will be able to walk from your dock to the ferry. It is a lovely harbour area. You can buy tickets on the waterfront in a couple places and there is no need to reserve. You need to go here for the other information: http://www.jadrolinija.hr/default.aspx?lang=2

These are the very well run government ferries. We took the longer car ferry trip from Split to Korcula and it went like clockwork.

I am interested in the same day trip to Hvar but I am finding that you cannot get a ferry (catamaran) back from Hvar to Split prior to 6pm. Any help with options would be appreciated.
