Rare Mike Dante Posted May 13, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2004 Hi all, I am curious as to whether there may be a place to swim/layout in either port area? I am pretty sure the answer is no, but figured someonw from the area may be able to shed some light on this. daWoods Posted May 13, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 13, 2004 There are a few pretty decent beaches near Saint John. Mispec is a city park and New River Beach is a Provincial park, both on the Bay of Fundy. They're not within walking distance of the harbour though, so you'd have to rent a car or take a cab. Inland, there are some nice beach areas on the St. John river, notably Crystal Beach. You didn't say when you'd be in Saint John, but the Bay of Fundy waters are very cold all year. The St. John River waters are very nice in summer. Island Princess Feb. 2004 Grand Princess Feb. 2002 Norwegian Sky Feb. 2001
Rare Mike Dante Posted May 14, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted May 14, 2004 daWoods Thanks for the input. We are looking at the Victory in July, and wanted something to do with the kids. LAst time, we went to a nice park when in Halifax, but wanted something more to do if we choose this trip again. RickT Posted May 15, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 15, 2004 There are many beaches within 30-60 minutes of Halifax. Please keep in mind that even in the summer the Atlantic Ocean can be cold. Also, if you're looking for Caribbean type beaches you will be disappointed. Some of the more popular ones near Halifax are: Queensland Hubbards Lawrencetown You can probably get directions and more information on the Nova Scotia Tourism Web Site http://www.novascotia.com/default.htm Hope you enjoy your trip. It's a great place to visit.
