Big Sur, Carmel, Hwy 1 weekend drive and B&B

It was many years ago, but we drove from LA to Monterey/Carmel and it was beautiful.

We stayed at a fantastic B&B called the Old Monterey Inn. (or Olde - don't recall) We got engaged there. So yes, it was very romantic!

I'm not sure if they're still in biz, but they were voted B&B of the year in one of those upscale B&B magazines years ago.

Speaking as an eastcoaster, Highway 1 is the most beautiful drive I've ever taken. Absolutely breathtaking and you will be pulling over at all the roadside overlooks; as you round each curve, the sights get more and more awesome. We stayed in Carmel here: http://www.laplayahotel.com/

The room was small, but elegant and the gardens were fabulous.

We started with the 17 mile drive in Monterrey and only drove as far south as Big Sur before turning back north - we only had a few days.

Enjoy!
