Thanks very much for your detailed info mate.

I will definately do a couple of those shows you mentioned. We are staying at Luxor so where would you suggest would be the nicest and most reasonably priced breakfast from there to eat every day whilst we are there.

Have you heard any reports about the show ' Phantom of the Opera' We missed it in Australia and we thought it might be good to see???

Regards Bob.

We have stayed at the Luxor a few times. Honestly, I am not that in to breakfast but at Luxor we usually have the buffet or there is a food court where we get McDonald's or Starbuck's. There is also a coffee shop type restaurant that I have had and it was good too.

I have not seen Phantom in Vegas but the reviews I've heard are overall good but it is a shorter version. I have seen Phantom elsewhere and it was great. It really depends on what type show you want.

Luxor is connected to the Excalibur and Mandalay Bay. Excalibur is usually cheaper for food and the Mandalay Bay more expensive. So you have those two options as well. You can walk or take the free tram.

All of the large hotel/casinos have both a cafe as well as a buffet. Last time I was there I ate a nice brunch buffet at the Paris. I bought discount tickets at tix4tonite while I was buying show tickets.

There is also an assortment of fast food type places on the second floor of the Luxor.

It is common for buffets to have a line.

Oh yeah....one show that hasn't been mentioned here is the Tournament of Kings next door at the Excaliber. It is a medieval type dinner show with horses.

My favorite dinner buffets are the seafood buffet at the Rio or the Wynn. A real nice experience for your time of year is the Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris. You can eat outside right on the strip directly across from the Bellagio fountain show.

Also, if you have Hawaii questions I maybe can help there too. I have been there several times also.

In Vegas there is a nice food court in the Venetian as well. It has a good assortment of quick serve at reasonable prices.

Thanks once again for the info.. I will definately have a look at the food court in the Venetian as you said.

Any good restaurants you can recommend in HAWAII for us also?????

Where is the best place to hire a car for a day in Hawaii to drive the island.

Thanks Jen.

My family really enjoyed eating at Duke's in the Outrigger Hotel on Waikiki Beach. It is very well-known and very busy but great food and a beautiful setting right on the beach. I would definitely make a reservation if you want to go there for dinner. I'm sure that others may have suggestions for less touristy options.

We have also enjoyed going to a luau. Yes, they are expensive and probably a tourist trap - but we just saw it as part of the Hawaii experience.

Which island or islands are you going to? Do you know your hotel?

Yes, Duke's in Waikiki at the Outrigger on the Beach is an absolute favorite. That is also my favorite hotel to stay at (nice, perfect location, pool on the beach, good food). They have a breakfast buffet, lunch and dinner. I have eaten there on several trips and it is always good and a great setting. The prices are reasonable for Waikiki. It is a casual, open air restaurant.

Good option to get the luau in is to go to the Polynesian Cultural Center. You tour different "islands" by day, have the luau dinner (or just regular buffet depending on what package you buy) and then the big show after dinner. The luau dinner is nice but it is the show at night after dinner that is fantastic, not to be missed.

Since I don't know if Bob is going to Waikiki I won't post anymore on Waikiki for now :)

Went to Blue Man with a headache, imagine how I felt when I came out

Blue Man is good and very unique but not for everyone. I would check them out on the internet if you are not familiar with them.

Just jumping in here.....Phantom of the Opera in Vegas is one of the best productions of it I have ever seen. It is one of my very favorite shows.

The Blue Man Group is another one I have seen in LV. They have a very entertaining, if not bizarre, act. Not sure if that would interest you, but you could also check it out.

Mariner is an awesome ship, I am on it in two weeks, along with Karen. (Hi, Karen)

You will have a great time.:D

Dear Jen.

Staying at the Sheraton Princess Kaulani in Waikiki....Just wondering a few nice eateries closeby. We like Asian, Seafood and American.

Should we do the Pearl Harbour Tour????? Haven't been there as yet.

Bob,

Jen is right. Blue Man would not be good if one has a head ache. The show has lots of percussion which I really enjoyed.

I would definitely see the sites around Pearl. As an American and veteran it really gave the lessons I learned in school real meaning.

Yes, I would do Pearl Harbor. It is a very good experience. From Waikiki you can take the public bus or a cab to get there. Try to arrive early as they can run out of tickets. It is free, you don't need to go as part of a paid tour/excursion. You can do it on your own.

The Princess Kaulani is in a good location. Very close is the Outrigger on the Beach. That is where Duke's I already posted about is located. Duke's is a good spot for breakfast or any meal really. We stayed at the Princess K one time and there was a breakfast buffet that was good but expensive. It had a wide variety of items including Japanese foods. We decided to go across to Duke's because it was much cheaper, better location and ambiance.

Also at the Outrigger on the Beach is a great sandwich shop, a bit hard to find but worth it. We usually pick up sandwiches there several times a trip.

Ate at Cheeseburger in Paradise one morning for breakfast. They do have breakfast foods but I went there because they serve burgers for breakfast!!!! It was good.

We had a great dinner buffet at the Oceanarium restaurant in the Pacific Beach Hotel. The food was good but the big draw is the giant aquarium. It was seafood, sushi, meat, salads, dessert, etc. I believe they do breakfast and lunch there as well.

We usually go to the Shore Bird once a trip. It is at the Outrigger Reef on the Beach. You cook your own entree. As I type this I am thinking why cook on vacation???? I don't know, but we love to do it every trip and it is very popular. It is right on the beach.

The International Market Place has good quick serve places. We usually end up there a couple of times.

For a high end meal, I love Roy's. Roy's is described as Hawaiian fushion and it is excellent.

There is also your usual fast food locations but McDonald's usually features "only in Hawaii" menu items.

All of these are walkable from your hotel.

For rental cars all the major US chains have locations in Waikiki and at the airport.

Dear Jen.

Thankyou very much for taking the time out to give us all the information today. It is really appreciated. We are a group of Aussies coming over which I have already said but half of our group have never been to Hawaii, La, Vegas or even a cruise. We are so excited coming over to the States and we are counting the days off.

Once again, thanks very much.

Was browsing and saw this post for Hawaii.... Have stayed at the Princess Kaulani and loved it. The location is great. However, DO NOT go down for the breakfast buffett... I don't remember exactly how much it cost, but I do remember that it was horribly expensive for what you got. Totally not worth the money. I'll tell you about a restaurant around the corner that has great breakfasts and is very inexpensive... Don't know the name though.

Your hotel is on a corner... If you walk out on the side street turn left away from the main street and ocean). Go to the next street (I believe it is Kuhio) and turn left again... Just a little way up (past Denny's) there are some two story buildings with steps on the outside. There is a restaurant upstairs that serves the breakfasts. Sometimes they even have a person outside handing out fliers... We found it by accident and ended up eating there quite a few times.

Have a great time... Aloha:cool:

Thankyou very much for the information.... I will have a walk around and find that brekkie place and try it out. I have been told by some other person that the brekkie at the Princess Lauilani is expensive also.

Once again, thanks.
