Rental Car in MIA - Help Please

We will be disembarking from the NCL Jewel on 11/13/09 (a Friday) and our flight isn't until 4PM out of MIA. There are 4 of us, and we aren't interested in a ship sponsored excursion so we figured we would rent a car and drive around (probably South Beach), go to lunch and get to the airport around 2PM.

 

What would be the closest or easiest to reach Rental Car company? Is there any right at the port or do we need to shuttle somewhere? Don't want to be picking the car up at 11am only to have to drop it off 3 hours later. I was thinking of having one person do express disembark, go get the car and then pick up the other 3 at the pier after we have collected the luggage. Does this sound like the best way to go?

There are none at the port, some companies will shuttle you to their airport locations however. Hertz & Budget have offices in downtown Miami.
