We had an extended balcony on the Legend last January, and I loved sitting on the balcony with glass of wine after our own shore excursions waiting for everyone else return to the ship. I've read lots of comments that those balconys are really hot and there isn't a breeze. plus on decks 5-8 there is a soot problem. here is the actual question--do you think it would be a problem to change our cabin? I'm starting to get rather leary about the balcony.

We had an aft-view extended balcony on the Carnival Legend and it was sooooo hot all the time. The reason it was so hot is that there's no wind at all back there. The soot was not a major problem, but just in case, you did have to wipe down chairs before you sat down. I prefer the balconies on the side (more breeze) but near the back of the ship (very quiet). Cabin 6262 with the super long balcony would be great score. I always call and ask if a particular cabin is available rather than take one of the cabins listed on the website.
