If you are looking for more in-depth information on a particular port of call, Tripadvisor.com has forums for every major city/location and many have local experts who either know the answer or will find it out for you.

(Tripadvisor is a sister site to Cruise Critic.)

Is cruiseclues.com still out there? How about cruise-chat.com?

I just google what I need. Or second to cc is tripadvisor.com Use thier FORUM board. There are excellent residents/visitors from EVERYWHERE who are considered experts. I got so much relevant and up to date info from them for our Med cruise. Great for local restaurant favorites, transportation info, ways to save money etc.

Since I know you are headed to Europe on your cruise, I'll also recommend this one:

Although it's a little harder to navigate, there is some good info on DIY in some ports. For example, I've used their posted directions on getting to the train station in Naples -- very detailed.
