Type of plane to Barbados?

Yes, does anyone know what the weights and dimensions for hand luggage are? P&O quote one size (43 x 28 x 23) but have replied to an e-mail query that that is only for general guidance, refer to Thomson for specific advice. Thomson just say refer to tickets issued by P&O. Our problem is we don't want to wait for the tickets to arrive to find out our bags are too big!

Is there anyone who has been recently to the Caribbean that could let us know what the tickets say, please?

We came back from the Ventura T/A 3 weeks ago.

Other than the usual airport security checks for liquids, sharps etc nobody paid any attention to either the size or weight for hand luggage. It could have weighed anything!

It is obviously a different scenario going out, but on the way back you are pre-allocated your seat number on the ship, so there is no check-in where someone will look at your hand luggage.

True that... when we came back all the luggage was taken from the ship & I doubt if it is weighed as such, probably a group thing. Nobody looked at hand baggage either that much except for the usual security checks. BUT remember things change all the time & we are talking Caribbean here! As previously stated going out will be the main problem, we are going out on the Azura next year & luggage is going to be a problem as we take 4 cases for 2 weeks & we are going for a month!!

Our holiday information book from P&O arrived this morning. All it says is:

"On all flights hand luggage is restricted to one piece per person with a maximum weight of 5kgs and must be small enough to fit under the seat in front of you, or into an overhead locker."

No dimensions are given.

One tip you should all look out for.

When the plane lands in Barbados you sometimes go directly to the transfer bus from the plane, not passing through the terminal building. So if you need that last minute visit to the loo, go on the plane. Its a long time to spend on the bus cross legged, I know.

A good piece of advise, I am on Artemis towards the end of January and will try to remember that, senility permitting:D:D

Just come back last week from Barbados and Ventura, at Manchester they do the weighing as per normal, we did have 3 carry on bags again no issues and as for the return you just dump your bags outside your cabin and see them at Manchester, so dont worry on your return leg. Just be sensible outbound.

We flew Thomas Cook A330, now even thought they have made some increase in seat pitch dont get excited, leg room ok but width is a nightmare, unable to move the armrest up your are just stuck in a terrible position for 8+ hours, return was worse as it's a night flight you cannot sleep as they are constantly up and down the isle with drinks, food and so on. They only dimmed the lights for the last 60mins and it was then light outside, took us best part of 2 days to recover.

Apart from that Ventura is fantastic you will enjoy.

Regards

Andy

Came back on Saturday from Ventura. Flew Thomson in First Choice 767's. We upgraded to premium and was very satisfied. P&O state a 23kg checked limit but Thomson check in allow 25kg's! 5kg is the confimred hand luggage. Coming back had no issues with very heavy bulging case and my handluggage was about 8kg's and didnt even get a look. It was also larger than the size stated on the tickets.
