momofmeg Posted November 15, 2009 #28 Share Posted November 15, 2009 A plain old "chinese" folding fan are a staple in my handbag or pockets when travelling in hot climates. Hiking stores also sell those gel neck scarfs you soak in water first and they evaporate through out the day which keeps your neck cool, at least in theory if not quite in practice, but they help and are passive cooling devices.http://www.orientaltrading.com/ui/search/processRequest.do?requestURI=searchMain&Ntx=mode%2bmatchallpartial&Ntt=fans&N=0&Ntk=all&searchTerm=fans&BP=10679&cm_mmc=google-_-Toys+and+Novelties+-+Adlucent-_-Fans+-+%28Search+16-18%29-_-becd71dd19504137b513fd1d361d0d6d&ms=search I am actually more concerned about the strong sun. I have a straw hat-but I wondering if I should take an umbrella(to use as a parasol) for the day we are watching the locks going to Gatun Lake
