January/February Weather In The Caribbean?

Folks do realize that they can look at their itinerary on the HAL site, choose a specific port and get basic weather data?

 

This data includes monthly Average, High and Low temperatures for every given port as well as the monthly average rainfall...

A plain old "chinese" folding fan are a staple in my handbag or pockets when travelling in hot climates. Hiking stores also sell those gel neck scarfs you soak in water first and they evaporate through out the day which keeps your neck cool, at least in theory if not quite in practice, but they help and are passive cooling devices.

I am actually more concerned about the strong sun.

I have a straw hat-but I wondering if I should take an umbrella(to use as a parasol) for the day we are watching the locks going to Gatun Lake

Yes, that is why I am dreading the strong sun and heat.But I still want to see this. Perhaps I should just head to the Crow's nest at 5 am?
