24 hours in Seattle what would you do

We will have a little less than 24 hours pre cruise to visit Seattle. Princess has us staying at the Doubletree airport. I think we can take the Link Light Rail into the city from the airport. Can you help with an itinerary of top sites to see? Thanks in advance for your help.:)

Yes, you can take the light rail into the center of the city.

 

Here are a few things you could do:

Smith tower (elevator to the top floor, $6, GORGEOUS view of the city for pictures)

 

Pike Place Market (google image it if you don't know what it is)

 

Ballard Locks (same thing as, but smaller scale, of the panama canal)

 

Space Needle & Seattle Center

 

Ride a duck (very touristy, but very well worth it)

 

Explore the Freemont neighborhood (most liberal part of seattle, claims to be "center of the universe") and the Troll Under The Bridge lives there.

 

Gasworks park (across the water from seattle, beautiful views of the city)

 

The Seattle Underground tour is VERY informative and interesting, but you need to make sure you're very mobile, and can climb ladders and duck under things. (you see the old city of seattle, which seattle was rebuilt on top of, after a fire many moons ago.)

 

If you want other good views of the city, take a ferry across the harbor, and take it back, if you walk on, I believe it's free to leave Seattle, but somewhere around $5 - $10 to come back to Seattle, WONDERFUL adventure though.

Can you tell me the stop to get off to be around the most popular sites? We are healthy adults so walking a good distance between sites will be no problem.

If you take the light rail all the way to the north end--the Westlake Center stop--you come out in the middle of downtown. It's an easy walk from there to Pike Place Market, and you can also switch to the Monorail nearby to get to Seattle Center (Space Needle, Duck tours).

Definitely do a Ride the Ducks tour! It is a great way to see the city, and lots of fun, too. :)

You didn't say when you will be in Seattle. The Airport Station of Link Light Rail doesn't begin service until Dec. 19. If you're arriving before that date, there is a shuttle bus that will take you to the Tukwila International Blvd. Link station, a couple of miles from the Airport.

 

The last stop on Link is Westlake Center, which is the best station for most Seattle sights. The Monorail to Seattle Center and the Space Needle deaprts from there. Pike Place Market is a short walk from Westlake Station as well.

Thanks all for the 411. We arrive in Seattle May14th 2010, so the Link will be open :D Now, I will work on where to eat. Any suggestions ? We like everything except Sushi ;)

we were there for a couple days and did a few really fun things...we took a duck tour (its a bus type thing that goes in the water...kind of a land/sea thing), went to the aquarium, went to Pike's Place Market, the space needle and just walked the Seattle harbor area. All in all a really fun city with a lot to do
