Grand Casino, Monte Carlo

Recommended Posts

We are planning on going to Monte Carlo on our May 15 cruise on the Millennium. Does anyone know when the Grand Casino opens. The information on Celebrity says "afternoon" , but that could mean anything. Also, in the afternoon, must men wear jackets or just long pants.

Has anyone taken a cab there on their own? From what we have seen, it is only a 10 minute drive or so. We would rather do that than go with the ship so we can be on our own timetable.

Thanks for any information.

You can find most of the information you want here:

http://www.visitmonaco.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=Page.viewPage&pageID=194

You can enter the front room--where you will fing Slot Machines, but no table games--without paying the 10 Euro admission charge or being subjected to the dress code...I have played the slots in shorts and T-Shirt! But, to enter deeper into the casino, men must be wearing a coat and tie...AND you must pay 10 Euros for admission...20 Euro for admission to the better rooms...

It is not open in the mornings...The hours are on that website...

It's more like 10-12 miles, figure about 20 minutes by car...

But, unless you are really into gambling, it may not be the best use of your time to just visit Monte Carlo...

Monaco-ville, across the harbor, has the Oceanographic Institute, the tomb of Princess Grace and the Palace...Nearby is the charming Medeival village of Eze...and there are other places in the vicinity worth seeing...St. Paul de Vence, Nice, Cannes...

Good luck...
