Embassy Suites Ft Lauderdale

Recommended Posts

Just booked the Embassy Suites on 17th St in Ft Lauderdale for a pre-cruise night. Is this a good choice? We are a group of 7 sailing on the Jewel of the Seas next February. Thanks!

Yes, that is a very good choice. You will have a two room suite and the rooms are very comfortable, we stay there often.
If you arrive in the late afternoon there is a free cocktail hour and don't forget the breakfast buffet before you head to your ship.
For dinner there are several restaurants withing walking distance. OUTBACK is right around the corner, and a mexican restaurant right next to that. Also many across the street withing a short distance.

For any last minute items you forgot to pack there is a strip mall directly across from Embassy Suites which has a large grocery and drug store next to it.

I am sure you will love the lovely court yard inside Embassy Suites.
Have a great stay and an even better cruise.

I booked this hotel through Priceline for our upcoming June cruise and got a two room suite (all rooms are suites) for $75, after taxes and whatnot it was $90. Great price, the online prices for my dates are more than $169! I can't wait to experience this pre-cruise treat!

We also got the room on Priceline for $75. Very nice hotel with beautiful atrim. Just beware that your room can be very noisy at night with crowds coming in. The atrium echo's! If you have a sound machine, take it! We were kept awake all night during our 1 night stay from loud people. I have heard people say this wasn't a problem when they stayed and have heard others with our story.

dbarry or Family of 14 was $75 your initial bid, or did you bid lower and had your bid refused? I am hoping to book a room through Priceline for a room in Ft. Lauderdale our November cruise.

I think I bid lower at around $65.

Beware though...I tried to get the hotel again for the return trip and went straight to the $75 bid. I was upgraded to a 4* at the Renaissance which turned out to be nice, but not big enough for our family of five. We ended up asking the Renaissance hotel clerk if she was give us a second room for the Priceline price and she agreed, so everything worked out fine.

This is a question I've been puzzling over a lot lately. We use Priceline often and always read the posts at betterbidding.com and biddingfortravel.com before bidding. I'm very familiar with rebid zones and different star levels and all of that. Last year for our post-cruise stay we got the 3* Marriott Marina for $49 which was great and it's the one we were hoping for, but it's not a suite, doesn't come with breakfast or happy hour yadda yadda. Wouldn't mind getting the Marriott again at the right price but would love to try the Embassy Suites. The thing is if I just start my bidding around the $60 or $70 mark(as opposed to $40 for the Marriott) on a 3* shooting for the Embassy Suites couldn't I just as easily get the Marriott and then I'd definitely be overpaying for that one? Now I know that someone's going to tell me that there are no guarantees with Priceline and I already know that but I'm thinking that there is some system that makes the slightly higher priced hotels in the same category come up sometimes and for some reason. BTW,I recently saw on the hotel board that someone got the FL Embassy for $55 for August I believe and that's the lowest I've ever seen for that property. Any thoughts from you Priceliners?

The above poster has a very good question. To get the Embassy suites do you put in 3*? My fear is that I would not get the Embassy Suites. I am currently booked for November for $200 a night. If I could be sure to get the Embassy for a fourth of what I am going to have to pay I would do it. Also, I guess my best bet would be to go to Hotwire and get the 3 1/2* hotel for $121. Either way, it's still over $100 per night and we are going in off season (November).;(

Exactly, dcourt. Hotwire is also showing $121 for the night that we need in December. I know that Hotwire's a sure thing but last year at that time people were getting the Embassy for around $80 on Priceline. $40 in my pocket is a good thing! I'm addicted to getting my hotel rooms at those Priceline rates!

Family of 14, thanks for your response. I need to book 4 rooms, so I think I will start my bid out at $60. I hope we get the Embassy Suites, because we have stayed in many of them in different areas, and we really enjoy the extra space.

My winning bid of $75 was smack in the middle of Spring break and Easter week. $55 is a great bid and probably appropriate for August.

goodml - I don't know when you are cruising, so you may want to start lower.

Thanks so much for all your help. I hope I can get it for $55 for November. However, we are traveling the weekend after Thanksgiving, so prices for hotels maybe higher. But I'll give it a try.
