Burnie cruise terminal taxi options

The RCCL Rhapsody of the Seas stops in Burnie, Tasmania, on March 23 for a day. Then it moves around Tasmania to Hobart on March 24 for a day. It would be fun to spend the night of the 23rd on land, allowing us to semi-explore Tasmania. We would then return to the ship before it departs on the 24th. Does this make sense?

 

Rental cars are located at the Wynyard Airport near Burnie - are many taxis available at the cruise dock that will take us to the rental desk in Wynyard? About how far is the distance? We'll return the car at the Hobart Airport - returning to the cruise ship in Hobart seems pretty straightforward. Thanks.
