Thanks for ya'll's imput as we are going at the end of Feb and liked to hear from pp who had just done this... the Comfort suites seems to be more expensive than your trip (when I went on line) maybe because it is a Sat that we will be there...hmmm so we will probably get tickets in Atlantis that day. If weather is bad maybe we will just go there and wander where we are allowed and eat lunch somewhere... Hopefully it will be awesome weather though...

My question is what are the charges to just use the waterpark for the day for a family of 4 (2 adults + 2 kids)? Can you just buy tickets for the things you want to do and not everything. It would cost me $353 to book a hotel room at the Comfort inn. This is in August of 2010.

TIA

Scubagirrl, I have a question about the fish fry...maybe it needs another thread.. but one of our group has a bad soy allergy and I wondered if i could find out if any of the restaurants did not use soy in their frying... and ideas how to check before we go? thanks

Quick question about using the Comfort Inn. How do you handle checking out? Do you do it the same time as checking in or do you have to go back after you're done in Atlantis? I'm going in June and I'm really torn on how to handle Atlantis. Book thru the ship? Costs a lot. Get a day pass from Atlantis? Risk being sold out so no gaurantee. Comfort Inn? This seems like the best route but I'm not sure.

You could certainly ask, but I doubt anyone is using soy.

They usually use big vats of vegetable and in some instances they are still using crisco type shortening.

you could call Twin Brothers and Ask.. 242 328-5033

You can check in and check out at the same time. No need to go back. Of course, you won't have signing priveleges, so bring a credit card (Atlantis doesn't take cash)

If the price is right at Comfort Suites, it's the best route. Keep in mind that the room rate is for 2 ppl. There's an add'l person charge as well as gov't tax, resort tax, gratuities and surcharges. Please read the fine print. This could add significantly to your room rate.

Energy surcharge: 12.95 per adult per night. Housekeeping gratuities: 5.00 per person per night for guests 12 years and older including extra persons. These are additional charges not included in nightly estimated total and must be paid directly at the hotel. Persons 16 and older are charged as adults. 3rd/4th adults in room are chgd 40.00 per night+tax and service charges.

I called the Atlantis at 1-800-285-2684 and was told the following:

There are three Day tickets you can buy:

$35 PP gets you the Aquarium Tours.

$60 PP gets you the aquarium tours plus lunch of a sandwich fries and large soft drink (hamburger, turkey wrap, chicken sandwich, hot dog) plus access to the West beach which includes a chair with a sun flap.

$110 PP gets all of the above plus the pools and slides etc.

Tickets are first come first serve, Can not be bought in advance. Enter the royal towers and ask at the front desk for ticket purchase.

We did the Atlantis Beach Day Excursion through Carnival while in Nassau last week and have to say that I wouldn't do it again.

I would definitely go back to Atlantis and pay a fee to enter but we wasted so much time waiting for the Atlantis shuttle to take us over (we arrived at 11:00 didn't leave for Atlantis until at least 12:30) and the last shuttle back leaves at 5:30.

By the time we arrived and were "herded" to the location of beach we were to use it was almost 1:30. Too much time waiting around and wasted.

Once we broke free and started exploring on our own, I forgot all about being irritated. It was gorgeous. I'm going back next year. However, I'll find my own transportation the next time.

Thank you for your reply...This is exactly what i wanted to know. I was thinking about getting a pass thru Carnival for Atlantis Aquaventure but i'm definately will make sure we're the ship and get to the Royal Towers before 9am to get passes to Atlantis Aquaventure for full access.

We'll be in Atlantis the 1st week of April. To be exact April 8th. I've called and check atlantis website often to see if there are any events that would have the park sold out.

Our plan since we dock at 7am is to be some of the 1st to leave the ship. Catch a cab, then go directly to Royal Towers to buy a all day pass to the park, buy a locker and hopefully find so local food outside the park for lunch.

Does anyone know if you leave the park for lunch will you be able to return at anytime?

I totally agree with this which is why when I was there a few weeks ago the moment we all got the wristbands on the pier I said "see ya" to the tour group and took a taxi directly there. My brother stayed behind with his kids and it took them forever to get their with taking the buses and apparently once they arrived the guide made them walk through the entire hotel for a "mini tour"...we didnt see them for nearly an hour after we got there......Get the wristband and then get the hell out of there.

Great advice! So if you purchase the Atlantis Aquaventure tour through Carnival, they give you your wristbands at the pier? Or do you get them in your room the night before? I just want to make sure of when Carnival hands out the wristbands, as I will do like you -- get my wristbands and get the heck out of there! lol

Can someone confirm what time the Aquaventure park closes? One person above said that the park closed at 5pm. Searching online, I found something that says "The water slides are open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m." -- but it wasn't an official Atlantis site.

Oh, and if it matters which day, this will be on a Saturday (the 27th of this month!)

Thanks!

We will be going then too!! We are on Carnival Fascination.... I believe that it closes at 5 because it is winter....Can't decide what to do as I am concerned that it may be COLD!! and we won't want to put our toes in! ...Wimps from South Carolina

Unless it is just a bad luck day, I wouldn't worry about it being too cold.

We've been to the Bahamas several times (on Exuma -- my grandmother happens to have a cabin there) during "the winter." We always thought it was hot and great weather. Over time, my mom became friends with many local natives there and asked them why they never swam in the ocean -- they replied "because you're only here in the winter! It's freezing!!"

This was when, to us, the ocean felt like nice warm bathwater!

So, yes, it is technically "winter" -- but we're talking about the Bahamas. Again, unless it happens to be a bad weather day -- you'll be hot. :)

Note/Exception/Warning: We're in the middle of Michigan. I did my morning run today when it was 8F. So, maybe everything feels hot to us!

Ok -- thinking about this some more (we'll be there on Saturday, February 26 on Carnival Imagination arriving at 10am). I'm now starting to worry that it would be pretty bad to get there and have them be out of passes for the day. So, thinking about doing it via the excursion thing instead. On that, I have some questions:

1. Just to be sure, if I do pay the $120pp through Carnival, then we would be guaranteed passes, correct? I assume that those are pre-reserved or something so that, even on a busy day, Atlantis would still provide them for the cruise group, yes?

2. Does anyone know if we could do that and then just NOT go over with the group? We don't want to do the group tour and such. We'd rather just get there as soon as we could when we got off the ship and see things as we want to see them. Could we sign up for the excursion and then just ask for the passes?

3. How do the passes work for the excursion? Is it a ticket or piece of paper or something that you take to Atlantis -- or do they do something as a group at Atlantis (and, therefore, there is no "ticket" or "voucher" that they could give us in advance even if they wanted to)?

It would be worth the extra $10pp to be able to guarantee passes -- we just don't want to have to travel with the group is all.

Thanks!

John ,We will be going on Saturday the 27th. not the 26...if you are on friday probably not as crowded... I think the cruise ship probably gives out the bands like Atlantis does but not sure... i read that in the thread somewhere... But you are right if you book thru carnival you are guaranteed the pass even when Atlantis has sold out of the day passes..hmm that is food for thought...

again if it is too cold to swim, our group may just want to just go and walk around, gamble , eat lunch... I do know that they do run out of day passes... but don't know about during this season. Scubagirrl may chime in and give some thoughts to this as she is very knowledgeable and helpful... Don't know if I helped but I just thought I would add some thoughts...

If we purchase just the $35 pass for the dig, acquarium etc will we have access to the casino and hotel/shopping ? Thanks in advance ! We aren't interested in beach and water playground things.

Yes, purchase $35 DIG bracelet at front desk. You have access to casinos, shops, DIG in both front and back (Shark tank and overhead). Very enjoyable and spread out. Also walk out the front and to the left and down for the Marina -- more shops and restaurants down there (1/8 mile walk).Vicki:)
