JDCMN Posted January 17, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2010 Hello fellow cruisers! 1. Is the park within walking distance from the Puerta Maya Pier? Approximately, how far is it? 2. If you don't want to snorkel or swim, can you just walk around the park? If so, do they have established paths and is there anything interesting to see? 3. Is there a pool available in addition to the ocean swimming area? 4. What's the fee for the lockers and changing rooms? Thanks so much for your help! CMM Posted January 17, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2010 You need to take a cab. I think we paid $10 for the cab (not per person for the 4 of us) each way. Our day was cut short due to heavy rain, but Chankanaab has a lot to offer. There are nature trails(bring bug spray we were eaten alive by mosquitoes) that you can do on your own or with a free guide. There are replica Mayan statues etc along the way. Also there are two Mayan houses to go through one with weaving and another with a lady making tortias over an open fire. She will give you one to try. There are hammocks and thatched umbrellas with chairs to lounge in.

I didn't realize that Chankanaab had nature trails, statues and Mayan houses so it was a real plus to hear about those features and helped to further confirm our decision to go there! Thanks so much for the information, CMM! Anyone else have a similar or different experience?
