Yes, there is a formal night. When we sailed this itinerary last year, there was a real mixture of dress in the dining room on formal night. There were women in gowns and men in tuxes, but mostly you saw cocktail dresses and suits. There were some who were dressed even less formally, such as skirts/dresses and men in slacks/shirts but no ties or jackets.

Yes, it is the first full day. Some people will be formal, some not. There's always a mix.
