Porto Vista Hotel in San Diego

Posted this on HAL site, but thought maybe I'd get some responses here. Does anyone have any info on this hote ?. It is a part of the Choice Hotels group. From my looking around on line, it appears to be a refurbished Motel 8 or something, located on Columbia in Little Italy. Most info I find makes it seem quite appealing and the price is right. We are looking for accomodations for two nights on our return from a cruise so being able to see the harbor is not an issue. Would love to hear from someone who has either stayed here or has some knowledge of it. We will be in San Diego May 4 & 5. Hope to hear soon. Thanks, Marion

Hi, Haven't stayed there but I know the city pretty well.

It IS recently refurbished and is in a good location in the Little Italy neighborhood which is just north of downtown.

I'd describe it as a basic 3*** motel.

IF you get a good rate(under $100) it would be OK but you can also use discount sites like Hotwire or Priceline to get higher rated hotels for that same price sooo, up to you.
