Getting to Buck Island

We will be in St. Croix next week (YEAH!) Interested in Buck Island for snorkeling. How do we get there other than via ship tour? Can we take a cab? We had hoped for a few hours of sightseeing and a few beach hours for snorkeling. We will be 4 adults & 1 14 year old. Any other suggestions for snorkeling?

Buck Island off St Croix is a national park - and an island so you can't "cab" there - and can only be accessed by a provider who has authorization to go there. At least that's how it was in the past - been a few years since I've been there. You will need to arrange a tour with someone - and may not have time for a few hours of sightseeing AND Buck Island...
