When 16 is really 15

I have seen tons of articles, posts etc etc, stating that the Oasis has 16 decks. However, there is not a 13th deck. False advertising, or am I just bored out of my skull?

29 more days and I'll personally count them.

Actually 16 is correct because we are staying on Deck 17 (which is actually 16 because there is no 13), so TA DA :) 16 decks.

You are SO lucky to only be 29 days out. I am just over 200 days out but that beats the heck out of the original 765ish days from embarkation when we originally booked.

Have fun and post lots of pictures.:D

Here we go again. So what is the time in St Martin if you are on deck 14 which is really deck 13?

I think there really is a deck 13, but it's reserved for Suite guests and D+++. They have free ice cream and a coffee bar. All the towels you could ever want, Chops steaks that are included with dinner, a private casino where all the numbers on the roullette wheel are 7, and oh yea gumdrops, and fairies.

And you get to it through the magic rabbit hole on deck 15 (14), right? LOL

There are 18 deck numbers but deck 1 is crew only and deck 13 was removed because of superstitions. That leaves 16 passenger decks. Deck 2 is not on the deck plans because it is only the medical center and other related guest services that are necessary to have but aren't furnished like normal areas (probably the morgue and jail down their as well). Deck 18 is the second floor of the lofts so it does exist even though it doesn't seem like it.

I should have known better than to start a thread about deck plans before I had a copy of the ships exact blue prints. People on here are very sharp and I never should have brought a knife to a gun fight. I hate being wrong, but in this case I am. I still will call deck 14 13 and so on, just to be obnoxious.

Have a great day all.

What about Deck Zero?

I would assume there is a deck 0 and possibly even lower (I forget if the go to letters or negatives). Crew areas are typically ignored in these kinds of things since the regular guests never see or know about them.

EDIT: I looked up some old press releases and she has 18 total decks with 16 passenger decks. So that means that there is a deck 1 and 0.

Even crazier than no 13th floor is that most of the newer high-rise hotels in Vegas don't have any floors in the 40's! Evidently in some asian cultures, the number 4 is unlucky, so rather than have to deal with ten whole floors that a large group of guests might not like, they just decided to skip them.

Of course, as a result, they get to brag about their hotels being much taller than they actually are. While Wynn has a 60th floor, when you're in the elevator, it goes from floor 39 to floor 50.;)

Does it also go from 3 to 5, and from 12 to 15, and so on? LOL

No, even though I half expected it too!;)

I guess they don't mind having some floors like that, but if they had the 40's, that would be 20% of a 50 story hotel they would have to deal with.

My TA Steven King has booked me in room 1308 on friday the 13th...Is that bad ?

I think that is ok--I would worry if it were room 1313 though.

We usually smuggle a black cat on board, when we stay on the 14th deck which is really the 13th.

  • 2 weeks later...
I don't think anyplace has a 13th floor. I know the building I work in doesn't.

The building where I work doesn't either! And we Canadians aren't usually superstitious about these things. Although, my building is only 3 stories, so that would just be weird if it went floor 1, floor 2, floor 13.;)

Deck 2 has large hallways that allows motorized transportation of bulk items. This is also main pathway for crew to get to the other side of the ship faster. The medical center is there along with the "naughty room". Other ship business offices & personnel are housed there.

OK, when I first posted this, I did so without referring to the deck plans. Given there is no deck 1 and 13, then there is in fact 16 decks. So if there are only 16 decks, how can you find your way around deck 17 and 18? Do you have to have a special card are transmographer?
