Carnival baby-sitting service

My two are too young for the camp, but saw where the camps offers (for a fee) baby-sitting service at specific time frames.

We will be on the Fascination in 20 days and interested in the time frames offered, or is the the same fleet wide?

I am most interested for the afternoon time frame, if one exists. I'm thinking a spa treatment for DH and I :D

Thanks in advance!

10pm=3am and while in port. I think all hours while in port, but not 100% positive on that.

"Besides the complimentary Camp Carnival activities that are available everyday, babysitting is also available every evening from 10:00 pm to 3:00 am. Infants to 8-year-olds have their slumber party in the Playroom with movie-time, snacks and drinks. 9 - 11-year-olds have After Hours with video games, movies, board games, snacks and drinks from 10:00 pm to 12:00 am. They will join regular babysitting from 12:00 am to 3:00 am. The charge for babysitting is $6.00 per hour for the first child and $4.00 for each additional sibling and will be charged to your Sail & Sign card. Please sign up with the Youth Staff in advance. All babysitting takes place in Camp Carnival. There is NO in-stateroom babysiting available." - Carnival FAQ

They do have a time during the day that they have playtime for under twos, but a parent must be present the entire time. They do not offer babysitting during the day, even on port days.

That must be why I had a baby strapped to me 24/7 on our last cruise... I could have sworn that we left the then baby on the ship for a couple of hours when we were in St Marten time before that one though. I could certainly be wrong about that though as I have old lady memory now.

Just have your husband watch the twins while you make a trip to the spa. I watch ours when he wants to hit the casino. Give and take, baby, give and take LOL

We've been on nine Carnival Cruises and here is our experience:

Under 2 babysitting is available every night from 10pm-3am, on port days from arrival in port until 12 noon, and sea days from 12 noon -2 pm or 1pm-3pm. It is $6 per hour for the first child and $4 per hour for the sibling. As an infant and young toddler our son used this service and we felt he always received excellent care. He is three now and loves Camp Carnival.

I know for a fact that they do not offer babysitting during the day while at sea. The 12-2 time that you are quoting is for open play meaning a parent has to be with the under two.

You are right, I found information in another location (not from Carnival) that they have babysitting from 8-12:00 on port days. I'm with you on the giving and taking of baby. It'd give each parent some special time with the little one.

I sent Carnival an e-mail and this is what they said...

"Under 2 year olds will also be offered babysitting services on Sea Days in the form of a Family Play Time. During this time parents are welcome to stay with their children to play free of chargeor if you choose you can leave your under 2's with Camp Carnival for the regular babysitting fee. We also offer Port Day Babysitting for your under 2 year old. The early morning port service will begin 15 minutes before the ship's arrival in port until 12pm and for late ports this will be offered during 'free play' times (see your Youth Staff when you arrive on the ship for details)."

Thanks everyone for the replies! We have two sea days, so I think we will do the family play on the first one to see how they do... and if they ignore us and have a blast we will book a couples massage for the next sea day.

That must be fairly new. Trust me, if they had offered that when we were on our last cruise, we would have taken full advantage LOL It's good that you have that option now. Enjoy your spa day :)

Our experience has been that the 12pm-2pm OR 1pm-3pm(depends on the cruise) is babysitting on sea days. The charge is $6 per hour and you are free to leave your 'under 2' with the Camp Carnival staff. They also babysit on port day from arrival in port until 12pm on port days. We have traveled on four different Carnival ships, on nine cruises in the last 3 years with an infant/toddler and Carnival has always had this service available.

  • 9 months later...

This is 9 months after the last posting and just for the record: we just got off Miracle and open play time was 8-10am. We kept the twins on home time, which made this 6-8am for us.

I'm not sure what they were thinking when they scheduled these times for an east coast sailing. Do you all try to adapt to ship's time? Seems like that would make for a less-than-relaxing week with toddlers (and then another bad week trying to switch back).... plus, we wanted the 2 hour time shift so we could actually go to dinner and a show (which worked out well. )

Babysitting was 10pm onward, and only in Camp, so again useless for toddlers with a bedtime at 9 or 9:30 ship's time. (FYI, not sure about port days as we didn't consider that.) I guess we won't cruise again until they are 2.... or we'll just go on HAL. :D

mikesteg, your twins are adorable! I bet you guys get a lot of attention for having not one, but two little redheads in tow everywhere you go. My 2yo has red hair and has been fussed over for it everywhere we go from the day she was born.

My daughter is well traveled for being 2 but we agreed to wait until she was on less of a schedule before taking a cruise, so I admire that you were brave enough to venture into that territory with 2 infants! Sometime this past summer, she stopped melting down when her routine was changed and started going with the flow a little better, so we agreed it was time to book a cruise with her!

I hope you had a wonderful time and made great memories. Once they're old enough for Camp Carnival, it will be so much easier!
