TorontoSailor Posted March 11, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 11, 2010 Hi all. I have put a hold on an Oceanview on Summit on the Penthouse deck because there was a good resident rate for sailings to Bermuda. Can anyone tell me please if in these rooms you can open the porthole/window to get fresh air or if it is permanently shut? Not a dealbreaker for me but some fresh air is always nice. Thanks. TorontoSailor Posted March 11, 2010 Author #2 Share Posted March 11, 2010 Does anyone know? Will an Oceanview (non-verandah) on the Summit, Penthouse deck, near the bow, have a porthole/window that will open or will it be permanently closed? Thanks. geojobes Posted March 12, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 12, 2010 I don't know about Summit for sure, but I've been on 7 or 8 ships & none of the Oceanview cabins have had windows that opened. I'd assume that they don't on Summit.
TorontoSailor Posted March 13, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted March 13, 2010 Thanks for responding. I figured as much. Makes sense. I have only ever cruised once before and it was Concierge Class with a verandah. Booked a verandah again fir a 14-night Caribbean on the Connie. Hope this room doesn't make me mental...but I am sure it will not. It was a real bargain and this getaway to Bermuda is just a whim to take advantage of a good resident rate. And besides: it is a cruise! LOL. Thanks again.
queenL Posted March 13, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 13, 2010 I was going to say the same thing. I'll be on the Summit and the end of this month in an OV the first week and a balcony the second. However, I've never been in an OV cabin that had a window that opened. I would surprised if the Summit was any different.
POTTERNMRS Posted March 13, 2010 #6 Share Posted March 13, 2010 Sorry no fresh air for you. In the "ocean view" cabins the port holes do not open.
TorontoSailor Posted March 16, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted March 16, 2010 Problem solved: upgraded to verandah due to another resident rate cut. Thanks for the help.
