mikenorca Posted May 28, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2004 Sailing on the Legend of the Seas to Mexico June 20th. This will be my first cruise and my wifes second. We have booked tours through RCI on the three stops. Is this a good idea or should we do it on our own. Does anyone ahve any opinions based on their experience. Thanks
springtxbill Posted May 28, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 28, 2004 I kind of like to make the excursions thru the ship the first time in port until you get the lay of the land, which you can use the next time you are there. suziehmkr Posted May 28, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 28, 2004 Head over to the Ports - Mexican Riviera boards. I found them very helpful when booking my excursions... we sail the week before you. I booked my snorkel/sail thru RCCL in Cabo... Booked independently with Randi's Happy Horses in Mazatlan... I have NEVER heard a bad thing - everyone raves about her. Booked independently thru Los Veranos for the Canopy Tour. Less expensive than RCCL, less restrictions, more platforms, and more variety. I felt comfortable booking these because of the reviews on the boards... Good Luck and waive as you are boarding, we will be disembarking! hstrybuf Posted May 28, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 28, 2004 In the past, we have always booked our excursions through the cruiseline or just shopped in the port city close to the pier. This next time around, we've visited two of the ports before and the third port had high recommendations for an independent tour guide. Soooo, we've booked all our tours with independents this time. hkmom Posted May 30, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 30, 2004 randi's happy horses was the best thanksgiving we ever had. she is awesome. in pv we booked on our own the pirate ship marigalante. we did the morning tour and had to be the first off the ship to run to the other side of the pier so the pirate ship didn't leave without me and my daughters. the pirate ship tour, in my opinion, was the most fun excursion that i have been on, with some of the best food. hkmom somewhere on these boards is an indepth review of the pirate ship excursion that i had written after i we came back in november 2003. legend hawaii here we come thanksgiving carnival pride til we see our stingrays again on the rhapsody
mthayer295 Posted May 31, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 31, 2004 would love to read your pirate ship review but can't find it. Any chance you could repost it? How did you book it?
DChabira Posted May 31, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 31, 2004 Can't beat Randi's Happi Horses in Mazatlan. We've been on 14 cruises and this was one of the best excursions we've ever done.
driftychick Posted May 31, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 31, 2004 Hi, our small group of 4 just returned from the Legend 5-23 cruise! We had a great time. Only booked excursions thru the ship for Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta as we have been to Cabo many times. It was VERY HOT AND HUMID! Try to book early to avoid the neat if it bothers you. It was VERY COOL the first day at sea and VERY COOL AND WINDY the last day at sea, quite a change from the days in Mexico. Do not leave your tanning for the last days at sea as you may find it too cold and overcast, also on these days because of the weather the Solarium pool is a Zoo always full. Children were allowed if with parents. "The only GOOD reason to work is to PAY FOR THE NEXT CRUISE!" Then we sail on the Legend!
