Any Info on "Cozumel Shore Snorkeling" thru Island Marketing Ltd?

I have been torn between doing a snorkeling from shore excursion thru our ship or trying out the Beach Break type of thing with the inclusive drinks and food. This looks like it offers both - snorkeling from shore at Chankanaab Shallow Reef, Mexican buffet, and open bar for 2 hours. All for $39 per person. Sounds really great but I would love to hear from anyone who might know more details or actual experience? Thanks in advance!

according to that site you still have to pay your own taxi fare. It does not include transportation to and from the park. 39.00 per person for food and drinks is worth it to you?? If there is 2 people you are looking at 80 plus taxi- Admittance to Chanunabb is about 12.00 per person. Towels are given to you for free from the cruiselines. Lockers cost to rent a the park for a small fee- so all in all figure out if the cost of 28.00pp is worth all the food and drink that you are there.

Sorry to cut in... this is along the same line. Trying to determine if snorkeling thru cruise line or going with reputable vendor on site (Mayan Paradise , Eagle Rays) is the way to go. Ever do either. What is the difference?

booking on your own--using private vendors is gonna save you some money. Just check your times.. (cozumel at the present time is one hour behind Miami time) and make sure your excursion gets you back to the ship half hour before the ship is to sail. Stay on ship time and do not look at time on the island. Doing a tour with a private vendor the ship will NOT wait for you if something happens.

Well, we would have to rent the snorkeling equipment as well, and from what I can gather that would be around $10 - 15 per person. After deducting that, I doubt very much that I could eat lunch and have a few pina coladas on the beach for $18 but maybe I am wrong. :) On a side note, we do not snorkel but thought it would be a great place to start. That is why snorkeling from shore sounds good to us. Also, the package thing says it has some sort of guided snorkeling so I suppose that means someone could clue us in on where/what to look at. The main thing is of course to have a nice day.

Thanks for the viewpoint!

my viewpoint was no way knocking down yours. I have been to Chanknubb. It sounds like this excursion is for a private beach club that was not there when we visited. It is a nice beach. something for everyone--its not just a small beach where one can swim or snorkel. Make sure you try one of those fancy pineapple drinks
