SXM54 Posted April 10, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2010 First time staying in a suite with a balcony. Do you lock the door to the balcony at night, or can you leave it open? Also, is it extra to have your breakfast delivered to your suite, and if so how much?
cb at sea Posted April 10, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2010 Unless you're worried about some deep-sea creature slithering up the side of the ship, and into your room, you don't need to lock the door...many folks will keep the door open.. There is no charge for room service (except from midnight to 5:30 am...$3.95 charge and that includes the tip)...you should tip the delivery person...$1-5, depending on how much they have to carry. BlueSkySailing Posted April 10, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2010 Do you lock the door to the balcony at night, or can you leave it open? I read also to make sure the outside light is turned off at night and you can use a magnet in the door to trick the A/C to stay on! Have Fun!!!;)
MIcruiser99 Posted April 10, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 10, 2010 I didn't like leaving the door open as it kept sliding when the ship moved. We LOVE having room service on our balcony!
stitchLi809 Posted April 10, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 10, 2010 are all the balconies on the ship large enough to have room service?
RadioRay Posted April 10, 2010 #6 Share Posted April 10, 2010 Try not to have the balcony door and the door to the hallway open at the same time. If there's any breeze at all you'll get a bit of a wind tunnel effect. The sound of waves breaking on the bow is like hearing the surf... really puts you to sleep fast. Can someone explain the magnet trick? I never knew the A/C would shut down. Where do you find the magic location to put the magnet? Thanks
BlueSkySailing Posted April 10, 2010 #7 Share Posted April 10, 2010 I have never been able to get a balcony but it sounds like there will be a switch or a thing that you would see on a window with the alarm sensor on it. When the door or window opens the connection is broken. One side has the sensor on it and the other side just has the magnet. So you bring your own to trick the sensor into thinking the door is closed. And now a door stop to keep it open. Hope this helps.
cencalcruiser Posted April 10, 2010 #8 Share Posted April 10, 2010 Just sailed on the Mariner of the Seas. We kepted the door to our balcony open every night. The sound of the ocean at night is very soothing. Its also nice to have your morning coffee out there. The previous comment about the wind-tunnel effect is accurate. :)
