Abberboo Posted April 25, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2010 Hey Aplmac, Can you help me? I am in Barbados now and am sure you will know this. If we go to the other Almond resorts which we can as a guest here at ABC, and venture to the Almond Casurina which I believe is in Christ Church I see on the map thats a lot close and might save us a fortune in cab fare to get closer to Bottom Bay. Can we take the blue or yellow busses to Bottom Bay or is Bottom Bay a very remote location only a tab or tour can take you on? Thanks so much!!!! Aplmac Posted April 25, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 25, 2010 Can we take the blue or yellow busses to Bottom Bay ===> Yes but..or is Bottom Bay a very remote location only a tab or tour can take you on? I'm fairly sure there's a bus route that may take you nearbybut even if it does, it'll drop you off at a point along the main road where the half-mile-long Bottom Bay access road intersects. You'd then have to walk the long hot half-mile to the shoreline thinking all the way.. "Is this it??" because all the way in, it looks very ordinary and un-appealing with nooo promise of a gorgeous beach in sight until you're almost at the top of the cliff! If you're here on the island for awhile, why haven't you rented a car?? Driving yourself there, and parking the (locked) car for 3-4 hrs. is by far the best way to do Bottom Bay. I guess you could also ask the taxi driver to come back for you -and hope he does- .
NHRedSoxFan Posted April 29, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 29, 2010 ALPMAC - Have you been there lately? Did you see how the cliff above the Bay has been sold off into house lots? No more beautiful pictures from the cliff once the houses are built? This is sad.

sunseeker09 Posted April 29, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 29, 2010 Oh NOooooo!!! I'm so glad we stopped at Bottom Bay when we did. I loved the ruggedness at the top of the cliffs, and the breezy, grassy field almost as much as the beach itself. It'll be an amazing spot for those who own a house right there, but not so nice for the rest of. I wish I could buy a house right there! Come on lotto.... ;)

Come on lotto.... ;) Yes, great spot for a house with a view overlooking the bay-until the first hurricane comes along, and you find yourself as the very first thing it'll be hitting... . Aplmac Posted May 1, 2010 #8 Share Posted May 1, 2010 Too late will you learn that the locals sell off their coastal properties to Northerners completely hung up on this "living by the sea" notion -and then use the money to retire to the inner highlands, where it's cooler, less salt spray to eat your fridge and car with rust, no sand flies, no hurricanes, no coastal damage from annual North Swells, etc. Keep on buying! .
