ashelsi Posted May 4, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2010 I am scheduled to leave on the Gem out of Venice in June. Due to the volcano and threat of BA strike my excitement has turned to worry. Hopefully this is all for nothing but I want to be prepared should we be delayed getting to Venice (right now we get in the day before). Has anyone actually missed the ship on embarkation day? Was NCL helpful at getting you to the next port to board the ship? Any advice on what to do should you miss the ship? Thanks!
Ms belp Posted May 4, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2010 We were supposed to do the Gem on 4/24 out of Venice to the Greek Islands. We had planned to go over early 4/19 but due to that volcano and so many flight cancellations going on we did not go. I hope you enjoy the cruise and that you have no problems. I am so sorry to hear that! I hope you were able to get your money back or are able to reschedule your cruise. I felt so bad for everyone who had thier plans ruined because of the volcano. SuiteTraveler Posted May 5, 2010 #4 Share Posted May 5, 2010 I would suggest arriving in Venice at least 2- 3 days before the cruise - this will give you plenty of time to figure out how to get there if something goes wrong with your transportation from home to Venice, plus Venice is an awesome place to visit - well worth spending several days there.
