Bahama Excursions???

Recommended Posts

Are there any "must see" excursions on Nassau the we must take? Is it better to take a RCI excusrion or are there particular people on the island that offer better cheaper tours?? I have heard about some tours that include island tours along with the Atlantis. Any help with this would be great as I do not know anything about this and dont want to be the dumb blind tourist looking for something when I get there. Or worst the cruise sells out the excursions and I have to hear it from the wife:eek: !

Help me to make this a special anniversary trip:D !

What to do in Nassau depends on what you like to do.

If you like to snorkel, the best snorkel tour we have ever done was the snorkel trip with sharks with Stuart Cove. You can go to http://www.stuartcove.com to look around and even book a tour. Their van will pick you up just across from the pier in Nassau at noon. It lasts all afternoon.

When we were there just before Christmas with our 8 yo ds, we rented a room at the Comfort Suites across the street from Atlantis which gave us access to the pools and slides. It was a very expensive afternoon but an absolutely unforgettable one. If you want to just walk around the public areas and the Dig (aquarium ) at Atlantis, there are many cabs available for a reasonable price just outside the pier gates. You can walk around those areas for free. The place is just amazing.

Hope this helps! Enjoy the Sovereign - she's a favorite of ours! Have a great anniversary!

Last year we didn't have anything booked and at the end of the pier we found a tour guide who was great! I think it was $25 pp., and he took us up to the fort, Queen's staircase, back through town and over to Atlantis. We went through the casino, (don't miss the Chihuly glass sculptures) and down to the Digs before going back to the ship. I cannot find his card, but I am really glad we did it this way. 7 of us in the van vs. a whole herd of people.

Her Atlantis idea is CORRECT!!!!!!!!!!! Only do this if you have the whole day. Atlantis and Comfort Suites both have a liitle known "day rate" for cruisers, only available when you arrive, to save you some $$$.

Wyndham Crystal Palace--only a couple of bux by cab, during the day, limited casino play, but go to the beach on your own!!!! Well worth it. :)

The cruiseline people make you think that taxi drivers will kill you. NOT TRUE. I've done this several times, they were very considerate and cheap.

Our kids took the pirates and dungeons tour and told us it was lousy. The guide spent a lot of time begging for tips, the bus driver begged for tips and every guide at every stop begged for tips. They were rushed through everything and then were dropped off at the Pirate museum and had to walk through town to get back to the ship.

The only thing worth it on the tour was the Pirates museum and you can do that without the tour.

We did the Seateck Snorkel and Sail tour and had a good time. The water temp in November was a little cold but we did get to see a lot of fish in crystal clear waters.
