Should I prearrange taxi for disembarkment?

Hi, The Enchantment arrives at 8:30 in Fort Lauderdale. We have a 11:30 flight out. It sounds like there are plenty of taxis around, but we are a family of four with lots of luggage, I guess we will need a big taxi, or minivan of some sort. Do you think we'll have trouble getting transportation right away off the ship to make our flight, or should I arrange for transportation ahead of time. I hear the port to airport is only about ten minutes, and sounds pretty cheap by taxi, 10 - 15$. How much would a transportation company cost, and would it be necessary??

Well the ship actually arrives much earlier than the published time, and disembarkation normally begins around 7:30am. If you have an 11:30am flight though make sure you notify the Purser's desk and get EARLY tags (white).

 

Yes, the airport is adjacent to Port Everglades, and there will be long lines of taxis waiting, no need to prearrange any transportation.

Your 11:30 flight might prove a little early if there are any problems such as with INS or Customs. There are always plenty of taxis waiting for a fare. I wouldn't order one and pay for their waiting time. With all the luggage, even if you need two taxis the cost is not that much. Security at the airport can cause long lines.

It would take longer to find a cab that was specifically waiting for you than to just grab one.
