Thinking about booking a 9B on Vista deck. Can't you access the aft section on the ship on either side of the Fun Factory. If I remember correctly there are stairwells that lead to the Penthouse deck.

 

Have they changed the smoking sections to the port side? On my last Mercury cruise(Nov. '09) the smoking sections were on the starboard side.

By looking at the deck plans and this picture the aft exterior stairs appear to go all the way from Deck 8 to Deck 13

We love the aft outdoor stairs on the Mercury -- They don't make them like that anymore!

 

We usually booked an OV cabin near the aft -- we were just a couple of doors away from getting outside. A couple of flights up to the lido and couple down to the rest of the action. Not as good as a balcony - but not bad

 

We miss the Mercury in San Diego :(
