bluetool lady Posted August 6, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2010 I have heard that the casino has very limited hours because of strict UK regulations. Does anyone know how may evenings the casino is actually open? This is usually our "entertainment" and would like to know ahead of time if it won't be available. Thanks for any info. Anyway, i have posted this question in couple of places and have not received any kind of answer. Could someone please respond? thank you It may well be that there are no answers because nobody reading the casino threads has ever been on a cruise around the UK. You could try posting the question on the cruiselines sections of those lines who cruise around the UK and hopefully you will get a better response. I have cruised from a british port (Harwich) and we departed at 5pm. The slots opened at 5.30 and the gaming tables at 8pm until late. Generally I think once you are in international waters, 12 miles for the UK, the casino can open.
bluetool lady Posted August 7, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted August 7, 2010 Thank you Dave, for responding. I was beginning to feel very ignored as this was my first post. I did ask this question on the British Isles board and also didn't get a response. This is why I tried the casino board. Maybe it isn't as much of an issue as I thought. Your information is very helpful. It does give me somewhat of an idea of what to expect. thanks again.
Princess Cat Posted August 11, 2010 #5 Share Posted August 11, 2010 We cruised around the British Isles 2 years ago and the casino was closed most of the time. I think from after the first stop in Ireland until leaving the last stop in Scotland. Most places are too close to the coast to be allowed to open. BobT172 Posted August 12, 2010 #6 Share Posted August 12, 2010 We, too, did the British Isles cruise on the Crown Princess in 2009. The casino was closed a large portion of the time... some nights were limited and it closed early...sometimes it was closed for days at a time. If I remember correctly, it was closed 100% for the last 3 days of the cruise. Very disappointing but laws are laws...
bluetool lady Posted August 12, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted August 12, 2010 Thanks for confirming what I thought I had read somewhere on this board. Very disappointing.:( . My DH has been very lucky on our past cruises. On our last one to the Panama Canal, he won enough to pay off our cruise credit card, including our excursions. However, I make my donation to the penny slots, but it's still fun! Does it make it more crowded when it is open?
