Public transport along beach

We will be staying at the Sheraton Ft. Lauderdale Beach Hotel. Since we won't be renting a car, what's the best way to get to the malls & restaurants aside from cabs. I've read about the water taxi and the beach trolley. How do these 2 modes compare:confused:

Bus 40 goes down 17th St, along the beach, and up Sunrise Blvd to Galleria Mall. Go north from the hotel to the mall. You can walk to the beachfront restaurants from the Sheraton.

We've used the public bus to get around Fort Lauderdale. Very easy to use. And cheap.

Can one get to and from the Airport and the cruise terminal using the bus? From the website it does not look like it would be easy to do.

It would require taking two buses. The first one from the airport to the main bus terminal. The second from the main bus terminal to the cruise port.

Cab should only be about $15 from airport to hotel. The number 11 bus goes up A1A, a very pretty drive and it will deposit you at Commerical and A1A. walk east towards the beach on Commercial and have a long lunch at Aruba!

Thaks for the info. We'll be in Ft. Lauderdale 2 days pre-cruise. Is it a good idea to buy a day pass for the water taxi or should we just stick to the public transport?:D

The buses do not ride through the terminal. It is not efficient and doesn't make any sense to ride the bus when a cab is so cheap and efficient.

That depends on where you want to go and whether or not you would enjoy seeing the town from the waterways.
