Just off the Liberty...any questions?

Negative. Don't even try sneaking any on at embarkation either as they will check anything Suspicious once it goes through the scanners. They don't care how long it takes for people to get there luggage they will find your alcohal.

We also was on this same trip.

We smuggled our beer in the coke packages and 4 large rum runners in the 2 bags that were checked at embarkation all of mine made it. my buddy tried to sneak extra beer in checked bags (54 total) and Friday night, so we drank allot on Friday Night.

Not trying to hijack this page but Heres what we did.

St Thomas We took the Jollymon to Buck Naked Island to snorkel. Gayle and Sarah were great. Tell them Mike, Barbara, Marc, & Pam said Hello. We purchased 3 bottles of rum and they were boxed (3 for $27) and they went through the xray and I carried it straight to floor 1 to get the elevator. My buddy got his 3 bottles of rum in a beach bag and was asked to check one he had in a bag. He also got a 12 pack of schaffers beer in (cost $9.00 for the 12 pack).

In San Juan We walked to the fort and back down through town. Me and Wife went to a small Mexican resturant right on the water at the port (across and to right from SR Frogs ) and drank $2.50 beer with chips and fresh salsa. I brought back a 12 pack of medilon (sp) ( $11.50 for a 12 pack) beer and a 2 liter diet coke at CVS and packed it in our beach bag. No problems.

In Grand Turk we rented a golf cart and went all over the island. However be warned everything on this island is very expensive. Gas $5.40 per galon, beer $13 per gallon. This is a good port to stay at the beach area.

Also we loved the Half Moon Cay beautiful beach and took the Jollymon to Buck Naked Island to snorkel. Gayle and Sarah were great. Tell them Mike, Barbara, Marc, & Pam said hey.

Beer on the ship is $21 for 4 coors light, and $26 for 4 buds and bud lights.

Happy sailing.

The formal nights were on the two sea days, which would have been the 2nd night and the last night.

They only allow a small number of people on the behind the scenes tour so sign up immediatly for it as it will fill up fast.

Correction: Formal night was Monday (1st day at sea and Thursday as we left Grand Turk at 3:30)

We did the Eastern.

1. Half Moon Cay- not very much to do there besides beach. really wasn't happy as it is a Carnival owned island and they push buying everything on you as it is all profit for them. You need to tender to get there and the tender lines are so long.

2. St. thomas- Absolutly beautiful island...best stop on the trip. We just walked around and took many pictures along with shopping.

3. San Juan- Wasn't very happy with this either. very very poor and a lot of walking on very narrow streets and really not much to really buy there. Seems as if everyone has the same thing just for different prices.

4. Grand Turk- Absolutly beautiful. Only 3000 people on the island and there are almost 5000 on the ship. The beach is great. Very small area for shopping but we did the Power Snorkeling there and it was a great excursion. ***If you need to call home don't do it there as it is either collect or pay by credit card and it is very expensive. The place to call is from St. Thomas as we paid $2 for a phone card that had 2 hours on it.

A T&T Has phone coverage in St Thomas and San Juan.

We are new to Carnival and are booking the Liberty for western itinerary. Any recomendation on decks we should try and book for our cabins?

How is the decor, coming from subdued Princess is it over the top?:D

Thanks Kris

Watch out for the Upper deck rooms in middle of the ship. The Casino is right under you and you hear the machines throught the floor. We turned our TV on the front view (channel 15 i think) at night as it was dark and you got a little music to drown out the Casino.

What offerings do they have at the fish and chips?

When we went a few weeks ago, the fish and chips place also had fried oysters, which were really good. My son enjoyed them. They also had some kind of cold fish salad looking thing. I'm not sure what it was because I only saw it quick. I usually sent my husband to get the kid his fried oysters.

1- Did you use the in-room hair dryer or bring your own ? if you used theirs, was it OK or seriously underpowered for someone with long-thick hair ?

2- I see you recommend bringing your own shampoo - can you tell me why ? Is theirs not very good ?

3- What time did you show up on embarkation day and how long did it take you to get ob board ?

Thanks

Julie

Fish and Chips.

Yes it is all fish and chips, but the varieties of fish served are; battered fish and chips, fried oysters, calamari fritters, and some cold seafood salads, bouillabaise( fish soup ), and a tuna/watermelon thing. Also, you can usually find a table up there when the lido buffet area is very crowded.:)

1. My wife took hers along but on the last night when you have the option of putting your luggage outside your room door for them to take she had to use theres and she was not happy with it at all...I suggest taking your own.

2. Yes there shampoo and conditioner are not very good at all. I would not want to use them for a week straight.

3. We had a shuttle from our hotel on saturday morning and arrived at 10:30am. We had a suite booked so that made us (VIP) so we got our own line and went right through to a different area for vip's. They allow the vip's to board the ship 1st and then I would say maybe 20-30 minutes later everyone else was coming in. So I would say get there early to avoid the long lines and then go up to the Lido deck and enjoy some lunch.

Hope that helps

How was your Power Snorkel trip in GT? We have the same trip booked for October. Did you snorkel off the boat or did they take you to a beach? We are avid snorkelers but we have never tried this.

thanks!

jen

I twas awesome! You take a small bus to there area for the snorkel. Once you get there they explain what will happen and how to use the power machine then fit you for flippers and a snorkel and mask. You get into a boat and then they take you out about 100 yards and you exit the boat. The water is about 25-30 feet there. The guide will dive down and feed some fish then take you to different areas. The cool part is you swim out a little farther and you can see the 7000 foot drop-off. After that they start to bring you in by swimming as you get to look at all the fish and other things you will see.

We were lucky to see a stingwray and a sea turtle, so that was really cool. You will enjoy your trip very much as the water is beautiful. On the way back they take you for a small tour around the island. If I can suggest one thing to you it would be take the earliest time for the excursion so you don't feel rushed when you get back to do some shopping.

I was on the same cruise. What did you all think of the cruise director? I wasnt very impressed...

We though Kyle was very boring and when he did come around he was very annoying. We saw him up in the bridge on our behind the scenes tour and he was doing nothing but yawning and seemed to good to talk to anyone but the captain.

I just had a thought. So if you were able to smuggle beer on to the ship, what would be the probability of sneaking it off the ship and drinking it at the pool in Margarittaville? Margarittaville sounds expensive.
