San Juan Hotels

Recommended Posts

I am thinking about getting to San Juan a day early. Since my flight will probably get in late, would I be better off staying near the airport and taking a taxi to the pier the following morning? Do any of the hotels have courtesy van pickup service from the airport like here in the USA? If I stay one night extra on the front-end and two nights extra on the back-end, what hotels do you recommend? I'm thinking inexpensive, but nice, for the one nighter, and then, something a little better for the two nighter. Any advice?

I would first find out which side you will be departing from! If your ship is the Radaince Class ships or Vision Class you will set sail from Old San Juan if it is a Voyager Class ship then you will set sail on the far side and will be much further away from Old San Juan! Here are the places where my Husband and I have stayed. The Caribe Hilton, The Condado Plaza Hotel and Casino, The Wyndham El San Juan (upscale), the Wyndham Old San Juan, and the Wyndham El Conquistador Resort and Country Club (very upscale)! I hope this helps! Frommer's and Foder's are very helpful in choosing a hotel; as well as the websites for each property! Happy Sailings and Bon Voyage!!! Melissa

Both the Serenade and AOS leave from The Pan Am pier, it has nothing to do with the class of ship. Taxis are not that expensive in SJU.

No hotels have pick up from the airport that I know of. My advice would be to use price line to get a good price on the type of hotel you want. To hedge that you may want to book a room at the Howard Johnson's for around $100 because you can cancel it when you get something better. They are one of the few that have a 24 hour cancel rate.
