Daily Activities Schedule?

Hi everyone,

 

DH and I are thinking of trying HAL for the first time (been on RC, Celebrity, Princess, and Carnival before), but I'm wondering what the activities schedule is like on board the ship. I know HAL is supposed to be more laid back, but I'd like to get an idea of what a typical day is like on a HAL ship. Do they provide a daily schedule/newsletter in your stateroom so you know what's going on? If anyone has something like this scanned I'd love to look at it. I'd do a search for this but I have no idea what HAL calls it. :o

HAL calls it "Daily Program."

If I remember correctly (on the Westerdam at least) you'll find a mailbox just outside your door. The staff places the program in that mailbox daily. Remember to bring along a highlighter so you can mark the activities that interest you the most!

Are those "Behind the Scenes" activities free? I know on other lines they've started doing behind the scenes tours, but they're charging a fee.

This information is 2 years old, so if it has changed I hope someone will jump in & correct me. We noticed 1 activity scheduled each hour. We loved it? No hard decisions between two activities scheduled at the same time. While we never lacked for anything to do, HAL is laid back in this respect.

 

You will not be bored, but neither will you be so harried at the end of the day that you need a vacation from the vacation. We appreciated the slower pace on HAL.

The complete behind-the-scenes tour is available right now only on Zuiderdam. It's my understanding that HAL is testing this program before taking it fleet-wide.

 

The tour price mentioned on another HAL tread was around $165 pp. This thread was active during the summer, but lately I haven't read anything about the behind-the-scenes tour. You may want to call HAL directly.
