Ruby Mini Suite guarantee

Normally, you will be assigned a stateroom in the mini suite category, but the exact category will all depend on the category that isn't selling well, usually. Although you could end up in the AE category, someone actually does. There is no way to predict which category stateroom you will end up being assigned. Booking the AE guarantee only means you are guaranteed an AE OR above.............

You will most likely be assigned a mini-suite on Dolphin deck. The only difference between the cabin categories is location; the higher the cabin category, the closer to mid-ship. There's no other difference. It's unlikely you'll be assigned an AD mini on Emerald deck because there are so few of them and they often sell out quickly as many prefer the location and covered/private balconies. All of the minis on Dolphin deck have uncovered balconies that are exposed to the sun and passengers in the decks above you.

We booked an AD guarantee on the Sapphire Princess several years ago to get a price break on a cruise. We wanted that category because it was a mini-suite with a covered balcony. Ten days before sailing, we got our cabin assignment - we had been "upgraded" to an AB mini-suite on Dolphin deck with a completely open balcony. Not at all what we wanted, and not in the location we wanted either as it was w-a-y forward. Only ourselves to blame, we know. We had never been upgraded before and though Princess considered this an upgrade, we did not.

That was the last of our 'guarantee' type booking. If you want a specific cabin location or any other specifics like a covered balcony, a guarantee might not be for you. If you don't care where you end up, then you will get at least the cabin category you booked with no choice of where it may be located. We learned from our experience and now book a specific cabin # to get what we want. :)
