Pre-Miami: Second time a charm?

Last year I cruised on NCL Wind out of Miami and booked the Ramada North Airport for $60.00 for the night before the cruise. When we got to the hotel they told us that it was fully booked and our reservation useless. They "helped" us out buy getting us a room at their "sister" hotel across the parking lot at the Days Inn Airport North. Getting escorted across the parking lot by security was the start to a wonderful night, the crowning momentd were finding cigarette butts in the bedding and bottles in the tub. This was the first time I had ever had a problem booking a room through an on-line service, but it has left me very skeptical.

Fast forward to this year.... we are going on the Carnival Triumph in April out of Miami and I am starting to look for a hotel. I am spending a little more time researching this year and have found the Days Inn Airport that looks nice with transportation from the airport and to the port. Has anyone stayed here and can report a good experiance, or for that matter any other hotel in that area for that wasn't a disaster? We're looking at between $60-90 for the night. Any suggestions?

Checked Tripadvisor and the reviews for the Days Inn are good-ish. Personally I would spend a little more and go for something nicer. I can recommend the Summerfield Suites Miami Airport; huge 2-room suites and huge hot breakfast buffet - I just checked for mid-April and got an AAA rate of $109. The only downside is you do have to pay for the shuttle to the cruise port, but you can reserve it thru the front desk (I think it's aprox. $10). Of course, the Days Inn might be perfectly acceptable - hopefully someone can give you a first-hand report.

I recognized you from the Roll Call board. I have had really good luck with Priceline in Miami. Check out biddingfortravel.com or betterbidding.com to see what hotels people are getting for their bids. Hope this helps.
