oddball question: are ocean view windows generally always dirty and streaked?

On my Destiny cruise I couldn't take any worthwhile photos of the scene outside my ocean view window because it was just grimmy, streaked, and just overall dirty.

Of course I could see out of it, but the question is- is this the norm because (big surprise) ocean water is constantly splattering the windows? Or does it depend heavily on the deck height of the cabin and/or when it was washed last?

Hey, gimmie a break, my cruise is in 14 days, I have run out of good questions.:)

When we sailed the Ecstacy (1993), but that changed halfway through the trip. It was a bit of a shock, actually. We were docked at Cozumel and our tour wasn't until after lunch. I came out of the bathroom into the cabin to fund a window washer hanging on the side of the ship, cleaning our window.

Good thing I was dressed!
