First time in Fort Lauderdale

First time posting here. We are cruising out of Fort Lauderdale Jan.1 on our fourth cruise. Never been there before...we will be arriving around 2pm on Dec.31....will there be any stores or attractions open that evening? Sounds like an awewome city from what I have researched...thanks in advance.

I think the mall stores close early that day. Usually there is a street party on NYEve on 2nd ST downtown.
