Rare Smokeyham Posted November 7, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2010 Do you have any suggestions for an Antarctic cruise which would include stops at interesting historical sites (Shackleton, Old Whaling Stations, Falkland Islands)? We're tending towards itineraries which include the Falklands and South Georgia, and also want a landing on Antartica. We're looking for a small enough ship to allow landings, while still have having a more comfortable experience (i.e. probably not a Russian ice breaker). Given the above, do you have any recommendations?
Skeezics Posted November 7, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 7, 2010 Check Silversea and the Prince Albert ll. They have 17 day cruises that include the Falklands and South Georgia, plus more. We are booked on the December 19th of this year. (Sold out)

Rare Smokeyham Posted November 8, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted November 8, 2010 Thanks for those suggestions! It looks like the longer (around 17 day) cruise will need to be the choice for us to see both the historical aspects, and to land on Antartica. Skeezics, I hope you have a wonderful time! dileep Posted November 8, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 8, 2010 South Georgia is definitely worth visiting. We did Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and Antarctica in 16 days on the Minerva but they are not going back. A&K has cruises on new luxury ship with a similar itinerary. National Geographic and Silverseas are also good options.
