My Solstice obsession with the sight line to the water

I am crazily obsessed with getting a balcony cabin that has a totally unobstructed view right down to the water.

You know, the Solstice-class ships are a bit odd in that there are hardly any cabins where you can literally look directly down to the water, without any obstruction whatsoever (i.e., the edge of the balcony is completely flush with the ship all the way down to the water line).

Almost every balcony cabin has some sort of obstruction looking down (e.g., lifeboat, top of specialty restaurant, little ledge, the promenade).

The only ones I could find are a few cabins on Deck 6 in the very front of the ship.

can't help with balcony selection, but understand your concerns. we were on our way to bermuda several years ago on carnival's legend out of baltimore. dh and i were enjoying our view from our balcony, when something told me to stand up and look down. to my amazment, a pod of dolphins were happily swimming by. this beautiful site would have been missed if we had remained sitting. :) have a great cruise and hope you are happy with your balcony.

Any cabin in the "forward" section of the ship will look directly down to the water. For example, if you are looking at Deck 10 Port side, from 1073 forward will be an unobstructed view to the water. We had 1059 the first time on Solstice. I liked that we could see directly down too.

Also, we never smelled any smoke as we were forward of the smoking area, and the smoke would travel "down wind" if you know what I mean.
