Excursion ? - Booking on board

Recommended Posts

Are there any advantages to waiting until on board to sign up for an excursion? We are thinking about doing the SUB Bahamas on Monarch in a couple of weeks but aren't sure if we want to or not. Can we wait? If you sign up online now do you pay now? And if we signed up now online then decided not to do it can we get our $ back, if you pay upfront?

I never did any excursions on my 1st cruise so this is a new area for me.

Thanks!

The advantage to waiting to book on board is that you will not be paying in advance.

The disadvantage, obviously, is that some of the more popular excursions will sell out.

Yes, you can cancel and get your money back. I'm not sure but I think it is within 24 hours. But don't quote me! If you book on line it should be in the fine print. Or you could call and confirm.

one advantage to booking onboard is if you have any obc (onboard credit), you can use it to pay for the excursion. one disadvantage is if you wait til you board, it could be sold out. this has never happened to me, but i know it has to others, especially on more popular excursions.

if you sign up now, you do have to pay for it. i don't have any experience with canceling so i can't answer that, but i think you can cancel if it's more than 24 hours before the excursion - don't quote me on that though.

There is no advantage in waiting, in fact the excursion may fill up before you actually board the ship. The advantage to booking before you sail not only reserves your space, but you also pay in advance thus reducing your cost at the end of the cruise. You may cancel a pre-booked excursion prior to sailing and if the excursion is canceled (weather, missed port) you get a full refund. I pre-book all of my excursions for the above reasons and it sets my mind at ease weeks and months before departure.

The cancellation policy once onboard is "48" hrs. prior to the excursion scheduled "departure time" (you must do this at the "Guest Relations Desk during their normal business hours)..at that time you will be given an onboard credit....Cancel anytime prior to boarding and you will be refunded to the method of payment you used..however if your departure date is within I believe 1-2 weeks prior to boarding and you cancel then it will be given as an onboard credit..Cancellations for the speciality restaurants have a "24" cancel time window.....
