RachelEllen Posted January 25, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 25, 2011 Ok! One more question, Costa experts. We are considering the Turkey/Greece Cruise on Favolosa this summer. The itinerary looks wonderful /but/ the times in port seem awfully short. Except for Istanbul, we're talking 5 or 6 hours in each city. If we don't do ship excursions, does it usually take a long time to get off the ship?

If the ship is berthed then there is no delay in getting off the ship at anytime, the problems occur when you are tendered. Then the passengers who have booked Costa shore excursions are tendered first, when that is finished then the rest (but again there could be delays as you have to get a ticket and you are only let onto the tender if your ticket number range ahs been called). CtheW0rld Posted January 26, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 26, 2011 short port times are costa's biggest problem. i examines their itineraries closely before i book costa. no way would i consider a cruise where the majority of ports had only 5 - 6 hours. Exactly. If you are simply going to get off the ship to view the highlights of the port from the window of a bus, you may as well save yourself the time and effort and simply get a video of the tour. We like to get walking in the ports to actually experience some of the atmosphere which is unique to that location.

It takes literally minutes to get off the ship they just scan your Costa card on your way out. If you're going on your own, please note: - How far the port is from the places of interest you're going to visit? - Any mode of transportation available at the port? Taxis, buses…, etc. Overall, try to make your way back to the ship one hour before departure time. Have fun & enjoy your cruise.
