Calebo Posted February 5, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2011 Would like some info on our upcoming Westerdam cruise by someone who has sailed her recently. 1. Do they still do that big Dessert Extravaganza? 2. Has there been a Code Red to begin the cruise? 3. What time are the evening shows and how was the entertainment? Thanks in advance for any answers. sunnygidget Posted February 5, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2011 In Oct. they did the dessert extravaganza, (on our collectors, they did it twice, yea!). Didn't have a red to begin with, but during, they did have something going on and went back to serving us on the Lido for a bit. 8:00 and 10:00 seemed to be the average show times once in awhile it was different. Most of the shows were fine. We really enjoyed the dancers and the comedy shows the most. They did have a harmonica player one night, different. Krazy Kruizers Posted February 5, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 5, 2011 It is not a BIG dessert extravaganza anymore on any ship -- they have cut back because of waste. There is a Code Orange for the first 48 hours on all HAL ships -- really affects the Lido Buffet area only where you can not touch any of the food yourself -- not even the drink machines. There will be someone everywhere in the Lido to serve what you select and to pour your coffee, tea, iced water, etc.
Oceanwench Posted February 6, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 6, 2011 We sailed on the Westerdam Jan. 21. They did have the dessert extravaganza one night, up in the Lido pool area. We stopped by to look at it but did not indulge! Yes, as KK noted, they do have the Code Orange in the Lido for the first two days. It slowed things up a little but no big deal. Entertainment when we were aboard: HAL singers and dancers did a show, then the principle singers did a separate show on another evening. Peter Peterkin, a finalist on America's Got Talent http://www.petepeterkin.com performed musical impressions and some of his own work as well. Julie Barr did a late night comedy show. And someone named Garin Bader performed - piano and magic. http://garinbader.com The entertainment does change, so I don't know if they'll all be aboard when you are! Julie just got on the week we sailed, so she probably will be aboard when you sail. She is a lot of fun!
