shadowfox7 Posted March 7, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 7, 2005 I can give you some weather info and more. We lived (cruised on our sailboat) for 3 years in Mexico and spent time up and down the coast. Ironically we are now going on slightly larger boat (Star) on 4/6/05 celebrating our 28th. The weather will be cool mild until you reach about 2/3 rd's down the Baja Peninsula. Then you will feel like someone opened a door and you walked into another world (it's really that sudden) where suddenly the humidity and temp will rise...in other words, 1st day at sea cool and during the second day warm. Acapulco and PV will be quite humid and hot then. Cabo will be more mild. The water temps will be great for scuba or snorkeling. Clarity is up and down depending on rains and river runoff. Remember to take it slow and dring lots of bottled water. Also hats and sunscreen help you not get fatigued. The best time to see Mexico is between mid Dec to early May. But anytime cruising is really the best time... Fun things to do are horseback riding (pick a tour that you can swim with the horse (bareback) in a cool river). Any sailing trip on Banderas Bay (PV). Hope this helps...
thequeen Posted March 7, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 7, 2005 I am so happy for you getting to cruise the Mexican Riviera on the Star. It is absolutely the most beautiful ship on the seas. This was our second sailing in February 2005 to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and it was the BEST! You will love love love this cruise and ship. Everyone is so nice and helpful with everything on board. Be sure and check out the casino, lots of terrific and fun loving employees there too. The shows at night are the best so be sure not to miss them. As for the weather, I believe the other poster gave the best details on that and it was exactly as he said. Good luck and happy cruising!!! If you would like any more details you can email me at Petruy@aol.com Karla
Ella2 Posted March 8, 2005 #4 Share Posted March 8, 2005 We LOVED the Star and our Mexican Riviera cruise in February!!! :) The other posters have described the weather quite well; do a search on this board on the Star and you will get lots of information about shore excursions, ship experiences, etc. I absolutely adored this cruise...you will have a great time! Shadowfox7 - My daughter and I are looking for horseback riding on the beach in Cabo. She is 16 and we are both inexperienced. Do you know of any good outfits? shadowfox7 Posted March 8, 2005 #6 Share Posted March 8, 2005 Sorry I don't know in Cabo. I don't think there are any that run in rivers as it's pretty dry there. A great trip in Cabo is the ATV ride out to the HUGE Dunes on the Pacific side. They take you through town then out to the ocean and let you rip for a couple hours....dusty but fun:D PV and Acapulco are lush with jungles and there are several outfits there. Good Luck
melis74 Posted March 8, 2005 Author #7 Share Posted March 8, 2005 We really enjoyed the Sun when we sailed on her so I am expecting a great time! We are going w/B-I-L and his wife who are cruise newbies, it sounds like they will be wow-ed! Me being a Floridian, I get chilly easy and was hoping that it would be warm even though it is the end of October. I'm hoping to do a zipline tour in PV, cliff diver watching in Acapulco, not sure about Cabo and Ixtapa...The horseback riding sounds great, which port did yo do it in? Thanks again!
