Rare Hlitner Posted March 30, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 30, 2011 We assume you are referring to going to NordKapp from the port at Honingsvaag. Most of the ships dock at the small port (not sure if a really large ship would need to tender) and the tourist office is located right at the port. The regional bus to Nordkapp leaves from right in front of the tourist office (you can buy tickets there or on the bus) but there is only a single bus that makes this trip during the day. It waits at Nordkapp about 1 1/2 hours before returning. Hank

Rare Hlitner Posted March 30, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 30, 2011 You are probably aware there are quite a few different ice bars around Norway and the world (there is even one on a cruise ship!). The one in Honigsvaag is within site of the cruise ships (about 1-2 blocks from the pier). We did walk over to the place and talked to the owners. But finally decided we did not want to spend the money. At the time we were there (last June) they did not yet have a liquor license so they were charging a hefty admission for a glass of fruit juice. They did tell us that they rebuild this ice bar every year and go out to cut their own ice. I should mention when we were there (last year) the weather was dreadful with a cold rain and thick fog. Those that took the tour to Nordkapp told us they could hardly see their hand in front of their faces at the top of the cliff. We had planned on taking the local bus but after talking to the lady that ran the local tourist office about the weather we decided to save our money. Ironically, later that day we cruised out of the port and about an hour later we went right by Nordkapp just as the fog lifted, so we had a great view from the sea. We will be there again this June and hopefully the weather will cooperate. Hank
