Outrageous air - toronto to venice and santiago to toronto

We have booked a cruise starting Dec. 8/11 in Venice. The cruise finishes in Santiago on Jan. 7/12.

I have gone on several air websites as well as Princess Ezair. For two pax, the price is $2,800 each including tax and fees. Princess Ezair is a bit cheaper than the air websites. The outbound is on BA and the return on Air Canada. Last December we also booked Ezair from Toronto to Rome and return from Buenos Aries using the same carriers and the price was $1,168 pp.

We have also booked a cruise Jan. 23/12 starting in Auckland and terminating in Beijing and the air price on Cathay Pacific return is quite a bit less than the above, although the distance is that much further.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS OR IDEAS?? Unless we can get a better price on the first cruise, we will have to cancel - ALMOST $6,000 FOR THE AIR IS INSANE.

Outbound--BUF-VCE December 7, 2011, $979.00 taxes included **

Return--SCL-TOR January 8, 2012, $1000.00 plus taxes on TACA Air *

* This is a one-way fare

** This is a RT fare, you tear up the return half or request credit for a future flight.

Thanks for this - where did you get these fares from and also on the outbound, what is the name of the airline?

Outbound is Delta out of Buffalo. I use http://matrix.itasoftware.com to locate and price flights and then use the chosen airline's (Delta, in this case) website or phone to book.

Itasoftware is not a booking site but will show flights, prices, airports, etc that can be booked elsewhere. Not all airlines are listed (ex: Taca) so that you need to go to a specific site for other fares.

Return is Taca Airlines http://www.taca.com.

Hope this helps!
