Please offer advice as we are having a huge debate in our home.
We are sailing next February- For about the same price we can leave Florida on a western Carribean and get the FV room on the Millennium (corner aft with the huge balcony) OR
we can sail from San Juan for a much better islands and an extra day at sea in a regular balcony on the side of the ship.
Would you choose the room or the islands?
Thank for any input.

Hi-I would definitely go for the better islands and extra day at sea.Since you will have a balcony cabin either way,go for the better islands. We had a regular balcony last week on the Galaxy and were very happy with it.We didn't spend as much time on it as I thought we would have.We enjoyed being out by the pool on sea days listening to the band. Also,I did see the FV cabin and thought our room was nicer, although the balcony was bigger.I'm sure you will enjoy your cruise either way.Enjoy!

Did you compare air fares? Assuming the longer trip leaves from Florida it may be substantially cheaper to fly to than a round trip to San Juan. Check it out...might help you decide.
But even if the money's the same, personally, I'd take the longer trip with better ports.

They are both 7 nights. It is more expensive to fly to San Juan but we would save the money by getting the regular balcony on the Constelation instead of the FV on the Millenium.

If "better islands" are important to you, that is what you should choose. You probably wouldn't spend that much time on the balcony.

We no longer care what ports we go to so the ship is our destination. We always feel we get our money's worth out of our balcony cabin as we spend so much time there every day.

I agree with Karen,

We also spend a lot of time in our cabin & especially on the balcony of the FV's that we ALWAYS book. Unfortunately, I do not agree with the poster that said their regular balcony cabin was nicer---that is absolutely not possible! The FV's are MUCH nicer. Not only are they twice as big, but the balconies are more than 3 times as big---how can that not be nicer???

Makes sense to me, Rosie! What exactly is an "FV"?

Paddy Anne ~ I agree with the others that say you need to determine if the ports or the ship are more important. For us, it's now the ship in the Caribbean as we've been fortunate to visit many of the islands over the years.

The person who mentioned the cabin being nicer on the standard balcony cabin, they were on Galaxy. The FV's on Millennium and Galaxy are not the same. In my opinion, the FV's on the M-Class ships (Millennium being one of them) are some of the nicest rooms at sea -- including suites we've seen. The FV cabin on Millennium are very large (really two separate rooms) and those corner balconies cannot be beat. We were lucky enough to have one two cruises in a row (before the pricing went way up) and I think it will be our favorite cabin for a long, long time.

FV is now the designation Celebrity gives to what it calls its Family cabins because the bedroom contains a bed that can be configured as a queen or two twins; and the living area contains two sofa beds (one that pulls out and one that flips into a bed -- you have to see it to believe it) so the cabins are ideal for a family with a couple of children.

Good luck with your debate. I think you need to list the pros and cons to decide!

I have also booked at FV 7199 for Alaska 2005 on the Summit....We are sharing the cabin with another couple. It was cheaper to do the FV than 2 nice balcony cabins plus so much more space...Read that 7199 is one of the nicest FV's...I am all about the ship/cabin and less on ports.....Just my opinion.
